2007 NBA Western Conference Playoff Race - A Nail Biter - March 28th, 2008
Now you all know that my writing style sucks, wait a moment, all of you tell me that all the time. That is fine, but I had to rant about this!

Who told you that you need clippers to trim your finger nails? That is a complete crock. For the past few weeks, I have been bighting my fingernails off at my finger's root. Why do you ask, because of the wild, wild, NBA Western Conference race. Just look at the western conference standings:

  • New Orleans
  • Houston
  • LA Lakers
  • Utah
  • San Antonio
  • Phoenix
  • Dallas
  • Golden State

Only a half game back:

  • Denver

I have to say that the tightest race is for the 8th seed this year. When is the last time that teams in any conference possibly win 50 games and not make the playoffs? Now can I guarantee that is going to happen, no, but I would bet on it in a heart beat. Dallas seemed to be a shoe in about week ago, but with the loss of Dirk Nowitzki, out with a sprained knee and high ankle sprain. My guess here, Dallas will be watching the 2008 playoffs with all of us in a few weeks. Last night they got drilled by Denver and have two games, almost back to back, with Golden State. Then they travel to the Lakers and Phoenix. They could possibly loose all 4, not saying they will, but it is not looking good for Mark Cuban at all (not that I care about that self-centered, egotistical prick). Everyone knows that they are now 0-10 against +.500 teams since Kidd has rejoined the team, what a bust of a trade.

Denver is playing outstanding right now and could easily move up; my warriors play them on Saturday, in Denver. My fingernails will be gone by the end of this game. GS and Denver are two of the highest scoring teams in the NBA, but both teams do not play defense worth a crap and I am sure that the score of this game will reflect that.

Now for the top of the conference:

All that separates the Hornets, Rockets, Lakers, San Antonio, and Phoenix is 2.5 games with around 10 games to go, that is just amazing! Utah is in the 4th seed due to their lead in the Northwest division.

Now I am not sure anyone here is following this run, but if you aren't, you better get to it, it is a lot of fun. I have to say that it is a lot more exciting than the NCAA tourney this year and will continue to be. I am sure that someone will be looking in from the outside come the last game of the season. My guess? Dallas!

Here are my predictions for the 1-8 seeds:

  1. LA Lakers
  2. San Antonio
  3. New Orleans
  4. Houston
  5. Utah
  6. Phoenix
  7. Golden State
  8. Denver

Anyway that is it for my rant!
