Debut of SportsRant Radio! - June 23rd, 2005
SportsRant.com is proud to introduce a new feature of the site, the SportsRant Radio Network. The flagship show, “Great Americans”, is hosted by nationally syndicated columnist Mark Chalifoux and Richie Lamping. Great Americans is a one hour program, produced twice weekly, that takes a look around the world of sports to talk about the biggest issues, brings you the best interviews. To interact with the show, sound off, or suggest an interview, email the hosts at GreatAmericans@sportsrant.com.

On the kickoff two hour premier, Great Americans is proud to have Illinois head basketball coach Bruce Weber as a guest on the program. The Fighting Illini head coach called in to talk about his players in the draft, the NBA age limit, the magical season the Illini had, how he would change college basketball, and about his new book. Alex Garwood, Pat Tillman’s brother-in-law and executive director of the Pat Tillman Foundation is also a guest on the program and checks in to talk about Pat and the foundation.

Mark and Richie also talk about the NBA finals, where Robert Horry ranks as a potential Hall of Famer, the drawing power of Eva Longoria, and how much Rasheed Wallace has changed since coming to Detroit. They also talk about Carl Everett’s comments in Maxim, Xbox influence on the minor leagues, the All-Star game, and some NBA draft. Mark and Richie also determine that women just cannot compete with men in sports, that Berne Ecclestone is a moron, and that to make money as a female athlete, you must be hot. All this and more on the premier broadcast of Great Americans on the SportsRant Radio Network.

Editorial Note- We are doing something new with SportsRant Radio, check it out, I think its going to be something great for the site. Things will be tweaked as the show grows and we work through some growing pains, but it is going to be a great program. The format will change once we start to get listener interaction (via email at GreatAmericans@sportsrant.com) and once we start up contests. This is the big kickoff show to test the waters, we have a great interview with Illinois head coach Bruce Weber, so check it out and let me know what you think. Also, any suggestions for interviews or additions to the show, let me know and we will work on them. Thanks-Mark
