SportsRant’s Final Top 25

2005

Well, here we are. The 2005 NCAA College Football season ended with one of the best National Championships in history. Matt Leinart and the University of Southern California may think that the best team didn’t win…but the reality is, USC lost. The University of Texas won the game and finished the season undefeated. That means they are the best team in the country. In any poll. In the Rant Poll. The Longhorns top the list to end the season because they deserve it. They played their schedule, beat some outstanding teams along the way, and finished unblemished. Sorry, Matt. The best team DID win.

As always, the Rant rankings will be based first on wins and losses. A team that is undefeated will always be ranked above a team with a loss, and so on. Also, if two teams have the same amount of losses but one has beaten the other, the team that won will be ranked above the team they beat. Finally, teams with the same amount of losses will be ranked according to who the Rant feels is the best same-loss team.

The teams listed next to the ranked teams represent the losses for the ranked teams.
