Honestly Rusty? A scapegoat?
I agree with you that Robidas appeared to be initiating a confrontation but just like 99% of the scrums that go on in hockey; he was most likely looking to give Tootoo a hard check.
Some Facts of Hockey:
1) Tough guys/Goons will run/go after star players
2) Star player's teammates will retaliate
I'm not sure why you act as if Robidas' actions are so far out of line with these facts? I maintain that Tootoo suckerpunched Robidas.
Let's go this way with it; Tootoo checks Mo into the boards, Robidas goes after Tootoo, Tootoo catches Robidas, they clutch, have words, drop gloves and Tootoo lands one on the button and Robidas goes down, out cold. No issue here. Tootoo gets the better of him in a fair fight. End of story.
If you look at the clip again you will see that when Tootoo is on his knee he is looking over his right shoulder and sees Robidas coming. He then stands up swinging and catches Robidas on the chin. Tootoo knew what he was trying to do, and did it.
