I have to add one more and then I'll stop:
The Great Flush of 1971!
On the opening game of 1971 the toilets overflowed throughout the stadium creating a horrible mess. It seems the drains pipes to the sewerage system could not handle the volume. Following the game the Foxboro Board of Health declared the place unfit for human use and shut it down. They ordered the Pats to fix the problem prior to the next game or there would be no game.
The following weekend the Pats used all office people members of the local press to deploy throughout the stadium and flush all the toilets and urinals at the same time while also running the water from the sinks. All units were flushed and all taps turned on at the sound of a big horn. The Board of health was suitably impressed and the game was allowed to go on.
By the way Mike, although I've never been to Candlestick the weather as always a well known factor their, especially the wind. Stu Miller could tell everone about that.
