1 & 2 are impossible to answer right now. Of course he has the ability to learn a great deal in the sport and get better. He seems to have the drive and determination seeing how he was a star college wrestler. I can tell you the drive it takes to become one of those.

But as you said, we have no idea how his chin is, and that could make or break him getting to a high level. Just ask ex-NFLer Johnny Morton about not being prepared and a glass chin. With only 1 fight under his belt, Brock has a lot of time to learn and grow.

And #3... the sport is getting more and more great athletes every day. Its really only in its begining stages now... the earlier days of the sport don't even count today... those older guys wouldn't be anything today, not even the overrated Gracies.
