After defending their Gold Cup title the USA travels now to take part in the Copa America, the regional championship for CONMEBOL or South America. The USA come as an invitee from outside the region.
The US starts play on June 28 against international powerhouse Argentina from 08:45pm at the Estadio Jose “Pachencho” Romero in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Here is the squad that manager Bob Bradley named to travel to South America.
Goalkeepers (2) – Brad Guzan (Chivas USA, MLS), Kasey Keller (Borussia Moenchengladbach, Bundesliga)
Defenders (8) – Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA, MLS), Bobby Boswell (D.C. United, MLS), Dan Califf (Aalborg BK, Denmark), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards, MLS), Jay DeMerit (Watford FC, Coca-Cola Championship), Drew Moor (FC Dallas, MLS), Heath Pearce (FC Nordsjælland, Denmark), Marvell Wynne (Toronto FC, MLS)
Midfielders (8) – Kyle Beckerman (Colorado Rapids, MLS), Ricardo Clark (Houston Dynamo, MLS), Benny Feilhaber (Hamburger SV, Bundesliga), Eddie Gaven (Columbus Crew, MLS), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA, MLS), Justin Mapp (Chicago Fire, MLS), Lee Nguyen (PSV Eindhoven, Eredivisie), Ben Olsen (D.C.United, MLS)
Forwards (4) – Charlie Davies (Hammarby IF, Allsvenskan), Herculez Gomez (Colorado Rapids, MLS), Eddie Johnson (Kansas City Wizards, MLS), Taylor Twellman (New England Revolution, MLS)
No Landy-Cakes, Beasely, Bocanegro or Onyewu following the Gold Cup success so it looks like Bradley is going to really blood some of the youngsters in a major tournament.
GO USA!
