I just went down to the local unnamed veterans fraternal organization to get into what is known around here as Lonnies Pool. $170 bucks get you in for the whole season. It pays weekly to whoever picks the most winners against the spread with the big payout coming at the end of the year. Whoever finishes last gets to play next year for free. Every week there is a little get-together on saturday where all players get a free beer and there are small raffles for TV's, steak, lobsters. Last year there were 623 players. The total for all participants came to $105,910. If I recall the overall winner took home just about $10,000. I finished on the first page but out of the money.
