Well the fins are taking Jake Long. And Michael Smith is reporting that the Rams will take Chris Long.

A few questions from day 1:
What's with the eagirls and skins taking a pass on the first round?
Did the jags give up the freaking farm for Derrick Harvey?
Why did Mendehall fall so far?

ssigman is just really nicessigman is just really nicessigman is just really nicessigman is just really nice
1. i liked what the eagles and skins did..for the eagles, they were able to get a 1st next year and still get a player who had a 1st round grade in jackson...he'll give them a much needed boost in the return game...same with the skins...to get 2 wr's that at one point or another were the top rated guys is a nice move...adding davis to the mix and campbell now has some nice weapons

2. i didn't like the move by the jags...

3. i really thought the boys would take him..i think jones was just set on jones from the get go...and the lions are a disaster...they took a RT over him...matt millen should gm the jets cause they equally suck

4. i threw up when i saw the ainge selection...i will say it was a pick we added from a trade but i could name 10 guys right now i woulda taken before him...i guess we felt like its been to long since we drafted a tennesse guy

here's my overall impressions of the draft for the AFC...i'll do NFC later

AFC East(in order of best draft)

1. dolphins...i really liked there draft...they will suck this year but bill knows what he's doing and if he stays for more than 3 years, the dolphins will be good again..yuck B+

2. bills...i love there 1st three picks..i was hoping we moved up to 30 to take a wr and hardy was one i liked..ellis if he can act like a human could be a steal in round 3 B+

3. tie: Jets and Pats
a. Pats - Mayo was a reach...he's 240 or so pounds but he lacks the speed sideline to sideline...the rest have potential but i don't see them being instant starters..i guess you don't need many when you go 19-0..i mean 18-1 haha C-

b. Jets -i said it from day 1...i don't like gholston..he's going to be a bust...so it was destiny that we took him...i was very disappointed and we stink...i don't think we shoulda moved up for keller...i hope i'm wrong on this but he's a pure catching TE..he looks more like a wr than te...lowery in 4 is fine...don't know much about him but we needed a CB..we missed justin king by1 pick..i woulda liked him...ainge is useless...i know nothing of henry the wr from kansas or the ol from nebraska in 7...why not draft arrington in 6??? C-

as for free agents...the following guys i want them to sign
Pedro Sosa- RU Guard
Erin Henderson - OLB/ILB Maryland - how did he not get drafted???????
Adarius Bowman - WR OK State...tall but slow..undisciplined as well..but i like his size
Ron Girault - RU S we need more RU guys in the league
Eric Foster - RU DT would have to play DE but the guy is a leader and played well despite being 250 lbs playing DT

AFC North

1. tie: Ravens and Browns

a. Ravens - they got a qb and pay him #18 money and not #8 money..they got Ray Rice so they are smart..Ozzie knows how to draft...Zbikowski, Gooden, Cousins, Nakamura will all be starters in the future..right now they add great depth B+

b. Browns - they added Rogers and Williams and despite losing there first rounder..they added a real sleeper in Bell and Rucker gives them another weapon..Hubbard is a big WR that could develop in a few years to take Jurevicious's place..i really liked the day two pick....B+

2. Steeler - they got the #2 RB imo at 23..then add a huge wr that big ben wanted..they just needed to add lineman...tony hills might help there but they didn't do enough...still the first two picks means they get a B-

3. Cinci - Rivers is gonna instantly help...but simpson will need a few years...which doesn't help if ocho cinco goes..sims is a big body and a nice pickup...collins and shirley add much needed depth...urrutia is hit or miss but i like that they are taking a chance C+

AFC South

1. Colts - it wasn't flashy but they did a good job of continuing to get TEs..Tamme will take up where utecht left off and they won't even miss a beat..i don't think hart is good enough but now that he's on the colts, he'll be amazing B

2. Houston - this is hit or miss..they reached for brown but david carr will tell you they need a line..the best were gone so it was smart moving down..slaton gives them speed and youth...adibi will be a starter in the future...if barber hits like his brother, he'll be a good safety C+

3. tie: Jags/Titans

a. Jags -Harvey was overhyped..Groves is hit or miss...but i like the trae williams and chauncey washington picks later....C-

b. Titans -do they want vince young to fail? every receiver on the board and you take Chris Johnson?? did you want to mimick the raiders and have 44 rb's?? lavelle hawkins in 4 is good but who are the rest? C-

AFC West

1. KC - Dorsey, Albert, Flowers and Charles...immediate help and starters sans Charles who will help spelling Johnson...Cottam will learn from the greatest and they got alot of help that they desperately needed...f herm but nice draft B+

2. Chargers - they didn't need much in terms of filling out the roster...i like cason and he'll be a good 3rd CB for now...all hester did was start for lsu and run for over 1k yards...and he's white and we don't see many white rb's...dejuan tribble will more depth and could be a real sleeper C

3. Denver - i don't love there draft..i'm sure torain will run for 1k yards since all denver rb's do that...royal didn't do much at VT so going that early is more devin hester effect than anything C-

4. Raiders - F

Jets try, but fail to get Chris Long

But Gholston was not the Jets' first choice to get after Brady. They wanted Virginia DE Chris Long and tried on Saturday to trade up from their No.6 spot in the first round to St. Louis' No.2 spot to get him.
The Daily News learned Sunday that the top three players on the Jets' board going into the draft were, in order: Long, McFadden and Gholston.

Before the Rams took Chris Long at No.2, the Jets called St.Louis. Mike Tannenbaum and Eric Mangini wanted Long, an energetic pass rusher who had 14 sacks last year playing for ex-Jets coach Al Groh. But the Rams' price was so exorbitant, the Jets basically said "see you later." It was a one-and-done phone call. No more talk.

Delaware QB Joe Flacco was the biggest reach, with the Ravens taking him at No. 18. But reports in Baltimore say the Ravens were concerned about the Jets trading up from No. 36 to get him, so after the Ravens traded down from No. 8 to the Jaguars' spot at No. 26 after they couldn't trade up to No. 2 to get Matt Ryan, they moved back up to Houston's spot for Flacco. But sources said the Jets had absolutely no interest in trading up for Flacco

Bengals missed out on this one:
Carson-Newman College wide receiver James Banks signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns.
The 24-year-old Banks started his college career at Tennessee. After two seasons with the Vols, Banks was dismissed in 2003 for repeated disciplinary offenses.

Intersesting draft to say the least. I was ready to break things when the Iggles traded out of the 1st AGAIN for the damn second straight year. Overal happy with their draft for the most part, happier we got Carolina's next year 1st rounder, I am their biggest hater this year. One thing I didn't like was that they didn't seem to draft for now but more for the futue, which isn't always bad but really they are a couple pieces from competetivly contending.

I should have posted my mock, I did surprisingly well especially early. I'd like to take credit for the Pats drafting a LB even though it wasn't the guy i suggested.

KC had a really incredible draft, as did a few others I thought did really well.

I guess the skins thought if they couldn't get an established no1 receiver they'd just draft 2 top rated guys and a TE in hopes of that equaling out.

Surprised how far Mendenhall fell really.

well anytime you can get potentially the top 2 receivers in the whole draft and at one point the top te all in round 2...i'd say you did a good job of getting help for your offense..unlike the jets who sit and let the piece we needed get drafted by that team
