Doomed to failure... I like the sound of that.

I will take beating a team "doomed to failure" any day of the week, especially if that team is Nebraska. I don't care how badly Colorado sucks, I don't care how badly Nebraska sucks. As long as Colorado has more points on the scoreboard at the end of the day than Nebraska does, our record otherwise doesn't matter all that much.

In the past decade, here are the scores of the CU-Nebraska matchups:

1995: Nebraska 44, CU 21
1996: Nebraska 17, CU 12
1997: Nebraska 27, CU 24
1998: Nebraska 16, CU 14
1999: Nebraska 33, CU 30 (OT)
2000: Nebraska 34, CU 32
2001: CU 62, Nebraska 36
2002: CU 28, Nebraska 13
2003: Nebraska 31, CU 22
2004: CU 26, Nebraska 20

The last time Nebraska beat CU by a convincing margin was in 1995 (I don't count 2003 because CU was in that game until they gave up a touchdown late in the game). Other than 1995 and 2003, CU has been within five points of Nebraska in those other five defeats. CU also should have won the games in 1998, 1999 (the refs called a field goal attempt no good with 1 second left in regulation when the kick was actually good), and in 2000 (had CU not chosen to squib kick with about 45 seconds left, Nebraska would have been pinned fairly deep in their own territory with little time left and a long way to go).

Sorry, I'm a bit of a historian. Fact is, Frank Solich or not, CU has played Nebraska very tough and close in nine straight games, and if a few bounces had gone the way of the Buffaloes, Nebraska likely wouldn't have a 7-3 record in their past ten games versus Colorado.
