Pros? What about Boston fans in the NBA playoffs a couple years back after Kidd was accused of beating his wife? Or what about Philly fans throwing batteries at J.D. Drew and cheering Michael Irvin as he lay on their pathetic excuse for a football field? Have you ever been to a Chiefs game when Denver or Oakland is in town (or a Denver or Oakland game with the Chiefs in town)? It happens alot more than you think.
The only advantage other sports have over college basketball is that in football and baseball stadiums, the fans aren't nearly as close to the action and players. And in the NBA, very few fans are a passionate (or out of control) about their teams as young (and sometimes drunk) college students are.
My biggest beef with this situation is that Redick goes to Duke. If he played for Gonzaga or some little innocent school like that, who's fans are for the most part tame, I would feel for him. But any player on a top notch program with fans such as his, should expect this thing. And if he's smart enough to go to Duke, he should have been smart enough to handle this differently.
