We won't truly know if this steroid thing has affected the fans until the season begins, and even then we won't know across the league - only in New York and San Francisco. I personally haven't had my opinion changed by the revelations from the BALCO grand jury testimony and Jose Canseco's book, but then again there are really only a couple of really good players in Denver and all their stats are already aided by the thin air... And it appears that I've run off on a tangent.
It'll be interesting to see what happens as a result from the new MLB drug policy. If players start getting caught taking steroids, then maybe fans across the league will begin to demand that this all come to a stop. Maybe - only maybe - if all that starts happening, we might see a shift in the game and the mindset of the players.
I certainly would be disappointed if I found out one of my favorite players was using steroids, but it wouldn't radically change my impression of the game or the players in it.
