The media is only crazy about this because, as you said, they're all jumping on the bandwagon. Steriods are the hot button in baseball right now, and everybody with half a brain is trying to get their opinion across to whoever will read it. This is even a big thing in the US government - Dubya was pushing Major League Baseball to further crack down on this issue, since it's a "moral dilemma" for future generations across the country.

The steroids issue isn't going to go away until the media can find a scapegoat to blame and prosecute until they're sure that they've saved the day and rid the sport and all sports of all steroids forever.
