It was a different game then, not better just different. The rinks as a rule were smaller. The league did not mandate ice size until the eighties. The smaller rinks allowed the stronger more brutish type player to excel over the faster finesse players. Guys like Esposito, Howe, Mikita, and others. There were skaters like Clarke who combined both, but as a rule physical strength ruled. Forechecking was paramount to the game and hip checkers like Bucyck were everywhere. The Flyers were rough and tumble brawlers who beat the Bruins with viscous forechecking and balls to the wall skating. Bastards!

Friday is here once again! What is better than that? The lovely Kristen is on the bar so off I go to drink cold beer and drool. My Rant accomplishments this week were:

1. Jumped on the Rutgers bandwagon. Why not?
2. Disparaged Theo Epstein. Why not?
3. Irritated BM. To easy.
4. Did not get called stupid by ssigs. Thus the Rutgers endorsment.
