Extra freaky and shocking that it came on inbetween rounds though vs going down from a punch during the fight.

I could see that though, the swelling and bleeding started with the punches, adrenaline keeps him going, sits down and bam the affects are felt...I'm prolly talking out of my ass but oh well lol.

Delvin is one of my bro and my favorite fighters, so i made sure to watch this one... not the way i wanted him to win. Very scary stuff. No thats pretty much right Beers... your head gets sore, but it does in every fight... Diaz stands up fast and suddenly the brain is bleeding and pushing against the skull, suddenly the pain is too much to take. (obviously i got that from reading and watching, never happened to me) |

That's Greg Valentino, an idiot I posted about here last year. He is of course a heavy steroid user. A lot of that size is his use of oil-based crap that can be very dangerous including a substance called sythol which is injected directly into the body part you want to affect. It gives you no strength enchancement but does cause everything to swell including the skin.

Welterweight Oscar Diaz, who collapsed in his corner after the 10th round of a TKO loss to Delvin Rodriguez on Wednesday night, remained in critical condition Thursday after undergoing surgery overnight to relieve swelling on his brain at San Antonio's University Medical Center.
"Oscar came through surgery well," Ron Katz of Rodriguez promoter Star Boxing told ESPN.com after talking to Donna Duva Brooks of Hall of Fame Promotions, Diaz's promoter, who was at the hospital. "They had to remove the left side of his cranium in order to help the swelling go down, which apparently was very bad," Katz said. "He had a subdural hematoma [bleeding on the brain], which was taken care of. During surgery, he apparently showed movement in his arms and his brain pressure was very good, according to the doctor." Diaz was under heavy sedation following the operation, but was not in a medically induced coma, Katz said. ESPN - Diaz undergoes surgery to relieve swelling on brain - Boxing Man, lets hope he can get through this and be able to enjoy retirement. |
