Interesting ssigs. For your player A scenario the first two names that came to mind are Sandy Koufax and Lyman Bostock. I think Koufax is in the HOF. He did dominate pitching for the Dodgers in the 1960s and did retire very early. Bostock I think played 1 or 2 season with the Twins before he died, he was being hyped up as a superstar. In the case of player a I think if he had 5 great years and led in numerous statistical categories then I think he may well be worth consideration.
Player B I thought of Raphael Palmiero, now disregarding the steroids business for this debate, I would think that dear Raphael would get in but not on the first 4 or 5 chances. |

my thought would be that player A should get in cause he had 5 hof years and then something happened where he couldn't play the game anymore....they would base his career on that even though it's a short life span in the game....i was thinking terrell davis kinda with this....koufax played like 8 years or so....
player b would be a rafael palmeiro without roids.... tough call |
