An alternative...

Instead of sending an “Any Wounded Soldier” letter or package to Walter Reed, please consider making a donation to one of the more than 300 nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping our troops and their families listed on the "America Supports You" website, America Supports You

And i'll vouch for Sigs here... i don't think he meant to mislead anyone. I remember a couple years back he had something set up (either he did it or someone he knows) to help get care packages (or something it was a while ago) to the troops overseas. This is a topic he's never been known to mess with.

ah..did not know that..my intentions were good..i don't mess with our soldiers..i'm a staunch supporter of them...although i think this is a way for for the gov't to make money on us by saying they can't accept letters or cards but instead have to donate money to a charity..i think a soldier who was hurt would appreciate receiving a card showing support for them

and it was phone cards to be sent overseas for new jersey soldiers so they could call home during the holidays

if that interests you, you can go to operation uplink which is run by the vfw and does the same thing but on a much bigger scale than what we did

Glad to hear it ssigs...I do understand the reasons for why they don't want the cards to come in like that but this is the big bad federal government...they could verify that the cards are harmless before handing them out I think. Or just make the prisoners in Cuba open them first .

i agree..they could check them before hand since most aren't personal..just a generalization of thank you cause you don't know the person...pay someone minimum wage to go thru them...
