He's guilty by public opinion and nothing he says or doesn't say can change that.

The fact that he is making no attempts to change the "status Quo" speaks to the public as well, and Bil brought up a good point he was all about getting these drugs out of sports especially for the young kids and has done nothing since his statements.

Him saying he would do whatever for whomever has no bearing on his career numbers or his guilt in the steroid issue.

No he should not have lied. If he never has done then yes he should have said so right then and there. If he did do them he should have taken that opportunity to own up and speak up. He did neither.

He did however, say he would would use his McGwire foundation to counsel young athletes against the use of PEDS. He did no and has not.

I kind of disagree with that, because in a sense when he said these things during his hearings he didn't want to talk about the past (his guilt or innocence) but only about the future and how to keep drugs out of sports. So he dodged his own denial/admission with that load of crap thus setting the focus on the fact that he avoided denial and was looking to bring a positive aspect into the whole thing with this I want to make a difference in the youth charge. So directly no it doesn't have bearing but indirectly my opinion says it does.

again...what does him saying what his foundation will do in the future mean when it comes to him playing the game and putting up hof numbers??? we already agreed that he's screwed if he speaks up or not...the public has already came back with a guilty plea

and noone is gonna come out and say they did them to the congress on live tv when directly asked...bil, if you really think people would do that...then your living in a reality that doesn't exist...

He said this himself at the congressional hearings after the father of a young Texas football player testified to his sons steroid use and eventual siucide by hanging. Big Mac, with tears in his eyes vowed to use his foundation to battle that sort of thing. This has not happened. The McGwire Foudation has not issued a significant grant since 2001 as far as I can tell. And that grant was not for sreroids it was to combat child abuse and bedwetting which while worthwhile causes. As far as I can tell he has done nothing at all since then.

You are right. I am just trying to explain why I have no sympathy for the man. He made the mess and he refuses to clean it up.
