The TarHeels have been overrated for the past few seasons. IMO, they were too highly ranked in the preseason poll anyway. This will bring them back down to earth

No excuse for that, that was the worst played game I've seen in a long time. Even when they went 8-20 a few years ago at least the players were playing with passion. The only hope around the corner is that Raymond Felton was suspended for this game for participating in an unsanctioned league game this summer, and we had to go with the freshman point gaurd, Quentin Thomas. QT has looked good in exhibition playing in relief of Ray Ray, but maybe starting his first game in front of his home town fans(he had his high school jersery retired at half time) was a little much. Not saying we would have won with Ray, but we sure looked out of sync on both ends of the court, so hopefully it will be a different story tonight in Maui.

Mike, IMO you don't know what the hell your talking about. How could you say they were overrated based on 1 game. This isn't college football, when you field a team with that much talent, and that much experience(3 juniors, 2 seniors in the starting lineup), 3 returning all ACC performers, the ACC defensive player of the year, the freshman of the year 2 seasons ago, the leading scorer in the ACC last year, the leading rebounder in the ACC last season, and the leading assist man in the ACC last season, I think you have a pretty solid case for a top 10 ranking.
Watch them tonight at 7:30 on ESPN2 and then tell me whether or not you think they are overrated, don't come in here with that weak stuff based on one game you didn't even watch. |

Rock, it looks bad bro
UNC got outrebounded, severley out hussled. UNC allowed Santa Clara to shoot 50% from the field...ouch
down by as many as 16pts? thats not good, UNC is a top 10 team, but I think what the other guy is really talking about is how they rarely play like it. Put simply, UNC has more experience, and some additional talent this year, but it looks like there D is still horrid, and Jawad is still not a forward, 1 rebound? Id start Marvin, hell he had 6 rebs, 2 off, and 7 points. hope you guys look better against BYU, and Im not just talking about having Felton, or UK is gonna hand you your ass Dec 4th. RIGHT THAT SHIP BUDDY

UNC vs BYU
Well that was alot better, but Im wondering just how BAD BYU is, they had 3 points midway through the first half. this Maui invitational will give some insight to UNC. On another note, UL lost to Iowa :neener: , making it even easier to tease just about every other college basketball fan out there that falls in the category of "UKHater". hopefully a Texas/UNC final will show up in Maui. BTW Mike, Duke didnt look all that great against there annual whooping girls Davidson last night either. UNC 97 Duke 83 is my guess for that matchup

Say NO to Shootouts!

Well last night was VERY good for the Tar Heels (shooting 58% and blowing them out early). But last night also bummed me out... Iowa just had to go and beat Texas didn't they? I was so looking forward to a UNC/Texas final tonight. Oh well, should be a Maui win for the Heels.

I guess Maui is too poor to build an arena.Looks like they were playing in some 50 year old high school gym.

Mike I do know you didn't watch it, otherwise you would have seen what I saw. Disorganization at 2 ends of the floor, the inability to stop penetration at the top, and a team that desperatley needed some emotional leadership on the floor. Now I'm not saying that it is exusable that noone else was able to step up, but what I knew then and I know even more now is that Ray Ray provides each and every one of those things to this ball club. As the year goes on we've allready seen Rashad and Sean and Jawad step up. Jawad did try to step up against Santa Clara, but Rashad was having a weird night with Doherty there calling the game and all the pub about his attitude and never really took over the way he is capable. Either way no matter what happens with Carolina this season I am confident in the fact that any failure will not be a matter of the chemistry or leadership problems that plauged us during the Santa Clara game.

As far as Jawad not being a starter for this ball club, I think that's just crazy. Jawad is absolutely vital to this ball club, he provides shooting, leadership, and rebounding. Against Santa Clara he was forced to the perimeter too often, look at his stats since that game
