I don't think so, a way for them to try to keep him the Packers icon status he'd lose leaving, no worries about him coming to camp, no need to worry about trading him or him going to another team etc etc.

Me too. He doesn't have a no trade clause, so you can send him anywhere you want. Rather than pay $20 mil for nothing, get something for him.

I think it does nothing long term that effects Green Bay legacy as long as he doesn't go to a division rival.

I really think its going to bother a lot of Packer fans if Favre plays somewhere else.

I look at the Favre situation a whole lot differently though...he took a few years to keep the team on the hook and finally decided to retire and did...then gets an itch to play and wants to come back and I really dont' think he wanted to come back as a Packer...to me a totally different beast than guys who should have retired but didn't and moved on.
