Nick and Jay. Wow guys! Awesome job. Thank you for the great articles, it was a pleasure to judge this one. Challenging as hell at the same time though. Jay, I hope you are in the next comptetition, because you proved to me you can argue some serious shit. Nick, Good luck in the finals, it ought to be a brawl.

Rusty, the judges have done the best they can do, and I feel we have done very well. Everyone was given the opportunity to judge before the competition, and those that wanted to, got to. It is difficult to judge, easy to be a critic.

This was a well fought battle, but when it comes down to it, it was the writer vs the fighter, and this is a writing competition.

I have to disagree on the good job by the judges.Again, the reasons given to the posters for the deciding factors penalized Coffey for his success in Pittsburgh while Messier was still an Oiler and just compared the two year for year once they were both gone making it appear Messier was more successful later, but in reality, played just 28 more games. The deciding factors did not pertain to the topic.
I'm not sure how you can ascertain what a judge was thinking. I simply read what each contestent wrote and, ensuring the stats were correct, judged on the better arguement. Personally, I didn't penalize Coffey for any success at all. I do not let my personal bias enter into any article...I simply judge on what I read. It makes no difference to me which player a contestent chose...it only matters to me how they argued their point.

You can criticize all you want...and you can assume what you want...but that doesn't make your opinion any more correct than the judges opinion.

I thought both guys did an excellent job arguing for their chosen player.

I felt I did a good job pointing out your difficulties in sticking to the topic.
Where did I even give a hint that I wanted to be a judge? I like easy!
Good job throwing out cliches though.
I agree that the judges have done a good job overall as well as the contestants. But,in this case,I pointed out some mistakes(IMO).No big deal.

Did you read my other posts?I thought I explained quite clearly that I was commenting on a written post by Aveosmth. How do you interpret this as me ascertaining what a judge was thinking? I took written explainations of the deciding factors of the decision given by Aveosmth and showed them as being off topic. That's it.Maybe your judging was based on reasons other than what
Aveosmth posted,I have no idea.
Let me remind you that this is a message board where
people express their opinions. In my opinion,I am correct.
I am in no way saying it is a fact that I am correct. In this case,I gave detailed reasons as to why I thought I was correct. If you want to dispute the reasons I gave, please do. One of the reasons I did not give
was that personal bias was involved.Your post has absolutely nothing to do with the points that I was making.
Most importantly,I agree that both guys did an excellent job arguing for their chosen player.I also feel the judges have done a good job overall except the
one issue I posted about.

"Let me remind you that this is a message board where
people express their opinions." I appreciate the reminder, but it was not needed. I have no problem at all with people expressing their opinoins...that's why this board was started. Opine away...

"If you want to dispute the reasons I gave, please do." Not at all...no reason to.

"Your post has absolutely nothing to do with the points that I was making." My post was referring to your assumption that the judges didn't take in to cosideration the topic and that Coffey was judged for his success in Pitt and that you disagree with the judges performance (which, to me, is no big deal). I simply tried to express how I judged. If you don't agree...cool. Again, no big deal. I'm sure we would all judge differently.

"One of the reasons I did not give
was that personal bias was involved.Your post has absolutely nothing to do with the points that I was making." Well, it does if your making the assumption that all the judges penalized Coffey for the reason you gave. All I was attempting to do was inform you and anyone else interested how I judge so as not to have any personal bias.

This is really a fun thing Aveosmith has put together. I think it is great for the site and for the members to be able to talk about the topics and the contests and the judging. I really enjoy judging them. There are a couple people, IMO, that are really good writers and could be excellent. I'm by no means an expert or an editor, but it's easy to see who has talent.

It's all good, bro. I read the explanation Aveosmith wrote in the other thread. He said it perfectly.

That's why I couldn't be a competitor, I don't know how to state my case properly in writing....I'm thinking of having Mike teach me!

I would like to give it a shot , but lack of time to do the research and no
internet at the house prevents me from doing so. Also years
of losing arguements to Btown and almost everyone else is a strong sign not to bother. I think I was just born to complain and about everyone else's posts.

That is fair enough. I thought for a while that you were implying that you could do better, but I was wrong.
