i think we have GREAT judges (gotta start the brown nosing now). Yeah KP, whatever you want to do with the seeding is fine with me. I think we'll have to wait til we have a better idea how many writers we will have to figure out what will be the best way.

**Did i miss anyone? Also, anyone know anyone who would like to do this tell them about it. They don't need to be rant regulars (but would like them to become regs! ).

All we need now is two more...of course, if more want to participate even better!

Here's the rules we used last time per Avery....

The first round is the article round, and with a maximum of 20 points according to the 10 point must system. I'm sure you guys know this, but just in case the 10 point must system just means that the winner of the category must win 10 points. There can be a "10-10" score in a round, but that should be extremely, extremely rare. There is always a victor if you look close enough.

You should score a round 10-9 if a writer beats another in a round (anywhere from just barely to fairly solid)
You should score a round 10-8 if a writer beats another in a round convincingly to very convincingly.
You should score a round 10-7 if a writer obliterates the other.

The categories that we will judge for the first round on are:

Clarity/Logic: How successful was the writer in expressing his/her ideas in a compelling way. Did the writer have gaps in their argument?

Accuracy: How successful was the writer in providing accurate facts to support their case? Did they use generalisms, or did they give specific examples to support their ideas. Was their any factual information omitted that would significantly strengthen/hamper their argument?

The rebuttal round is worth a max of 30 points using the same system. The three categories are:

Clarity/Logic: How well did the writer understand the other's argument to provide a counter? Was the counter idea expressed clearly with examples & facts?

Style: How well did the writer use humor, antecdotes and tone in their argument. Did it make you laugh? Did it make you grimace? Did it make you say WOW!

Strength of Rebuttal: Did you feel like after you read the argument, that the other writer case was lacking? Or did you feel like the rebuttal was lacking? Was the writer able to invalidate the other's argument?

KP, what about word counts? Wasn't there limits to how much you could write? I can't remember.

If I recall the initial round did have a word count, the rebuttals had no such limit.
