Hey Steel, i know KP was talking about starting on the 22nd... but we haven't decided anything for sure. I didn't think we would get this many writers so quickly. Please check back and we will update the exact date.

If I remember correctly, the first competition had word count limits, I don't believe the second one did. I was not a fan of the word counts.

Also, the other thing I would recommend changing (if I may be so bold), is the time limits. The writers were given very strict time limits for turning in their work, but the judges were given none. I feel that everyone should have to live by them, or no one should.

I'm not a real big fan of word counts myself, but IMO the writers have to police themselves. Like not writing a novel as a response. I mean as another writer i wouldn't care... but its gotta suck for the judges to read page after page. Either way, it doesn't matter at all to me.

And dude, please give us any imput or recomendations that you can. I'd really like to help make this what Avery had origionally wanted it to be. And its not that we'll listen to your dumb ass!

I'm going to come out and say it.... I CAN'T WAIT to lose in the first round of this, its going to be AWESOME.

I've been talking to myself about the most random sports topics ever, and I'm probably going to break the record for most words ever written in a losing argument.

The best advice I can give is two-fold.

1. Have all of the questions / topics in order before the first round begins. This way, it remains fluid. Open ended topics are your best bets.

2. Be accountable. Do what you say you are going to do. If round one begins on day X, then it had better begin then. I think you know what I mean by this.

Here's the plan...

1. I'll get with ssigman and BtownBeers and we'll decide on the first topic and whether or not we want to have a word count for either round.

2. We'll figure out the timeframe to submit articles and the timeframe for judges to submit their results.

3. We'll figure out a bracket.

4. We'll wait until after the weekend to see if anyone else decides they want to participate.

I hate to split hairs, but you will need four topics for round one. Also, for the brackets, I would put names in a "hat", and pick them that way. But that is just me.
