Hey, I wasn't the one toting Maverick invincibility all over this thread and back.
Schadenfreude is fun though. So is upsetting the apple cart. |

Now that you mention it, I guess it is kind of odd that someone FROM DALLAS would support the DALLAS Mavericks in a MAVERICKS fourm. It's a shame that now you'll go back into your hole and wait for the spurs series to be over before we'll be blessed with any more of your masterful bon mots.

The Suns, in the last two games, simply showed more desire to win. The Mavs had this game in hand and then it seemed like they started thinking of Game 7. The Suns just never quit....which is directly related to Nash's attitude. He showed the same propensity when he played in Dallas.
Anyone who didn't think Nash deserved the MVP this year should watch tapes of this Series. He was awesome. I just don't get it when people say he isn't athletic. Gimme a break! Because he doesn't fly through the air and dunk all the time he isn't athletic? Anyway, Dallas needs to find some heart for next year...and figure out whether having Michael Finley on the team is necessary. Fin has been my favorite player over the last few years, but he just disappears way too often. Okay, enough of the ramble. Suns deserved to win. They played better and showed more desire. Congrats.

These "team" forums are a stupid idea to begin with. There's....how many Dallas fans in here, one? How many patrol the Spurs forum on a regular basis? There's barely enough traffic on this site to warrant the neccessity of even sport-specific forums, let alone team-specific ones.
With that said, I go where the traffic is, and, every so often, toss apples into the hall. Kallisti sent me. Don't take it so personally, you're going to have an aneurysm. My prediction? San Antonio to win everything. I don't see anyone standing in their way at this point, but that's because I'm a realist. Sure, I have my favourites, but I don't ever foster any delusions about what their chances are. The whole "Mavs in 6" caught my eye because it seemed more like wishful thinking than critical analysis. Like trying to hold back a fart without wincing. Sports bravado amuses me. I have none, which is why you don't see me jumping up and down going "OMG STEEV NAHS SI TEH AWSOMENES!!!1", but watching you guys go at it is like listening to science fiction dorks argue over whether the Starship Enterprise could take on a Star Destroyer. I can't help but take you down a peg. |

"you're going to have an aneurysm."
-You think an awful lot of yourself. My arteries walls are just fine, thank you. If you want to see me fired up, let the Stars and the oilers meet in the playoffs. "I don't ever foster any delusions" -I certainly don't think that a Mavs in 6 prediction was delusional. It is very conceivable that the Mavs could have won games 5 and 6. They were never completely out of those games. "Sports bravado amuses me. I have none, which is why you don't see me jumping up and down going 'OMG STEEV NAHS SI TEH AWSOMENES!!!1'" -Really? "Steve Nash is from my backyard. What do you think?" "I can't help but take you down a peg." -I must have missed when this happened. "it is like listening to science fiction dorks argue over whether the Starship Enterprise could take on a Star Destroyer." -See now you're just being ridiculous. While the Enterprise may be the more agile of the two, the Star Destroyer actually carries Tie Fighters and upon deploying them... well it's not really much of an argument at all. Star Destroyer in 6 (Tie Fighter shots.) Other than the discrepancies that I pointed out above, I think your post was well written.

Now wait just a minute here.
Understand one thing: The standard weapon accompaniment of the battlefleet of the Galactic Empire consists of turbolasers. Lasers are really just condensed heat. Starfleet ships haven't been equipped with anything laser-based in centuries. They use phasers, which is condensed photons, making them technically a high-powered particle weapon. Almost like a rail gun, only with one rail, that is infinitely long. There was actually a scene on TNG once where the enterprise encountered this plucky craft, and when Worf analyzed its defensive capabilities, he almost scoffed at the fact that it had laser-based weaponry. "No match for the Enterprise." It doesn't matter if they're turbolasers or superlasers or ultra-fucking-powerful-lasers-of-doom.....lasers aren't going to damage the Enterprise's shields, let alone penetrate them. You could shoot at it for 1000 years, it wouldn't make any difference. Now, technical schematics on the Empire's defensive capabilites is dodgy, but if they're a civilization still using lasers, any defenses they have would of course be suited to defend against just that thing. Thusly......not only could the Enterprise take on a Star Destroyer, but an entire fleet of them AND the Death Star COMBINED, all by itself, without breaking a sweat. Phasers would simply cut the fleet to ribbons. That is, of course, presuming that Darth Vader isn't on board one of them, in which case all he would have to do is mind choke Captain Picard and call it a day. |
