I agree with Point Man on his assessment of Shaq except for the talent part.There's a big difference between having actual basketball talent and just being the biggest,strongest and most powerful player in the game.Wilt had the same advantages during his playing days,but the difference was that Wilt actually had other basketball skills that complamented his attributes of size,power and strength.Proof of point is that if Shaq had to play away from the basket,as did Kareem,Hakeem,Duncan or even Garnett,he would be totally lost and out of his element and with no other basketball skills to rely on such as a jump and/or hook shot unless it's inside or a foot or so outside of the free throw area. I supported and defended him while he was a Laker,but now that I've been labeled as a fake fan and/or LA citizen,then I might as well the truth about his lack of actual basketball skills of which he possesses very little.

Well, that answers my question I guess. I say we just take Shaq out back and beat the shit out of him. lol.

I applaud effort more than talent anyway, which is why I always appreciated Larry Bird.

Hell, I think that Larry had talent,yeh he worked at his game because he may not have possessed all the GOD given talent of some but he had heart,toughness and competitiveness and those are the things that made him as great as he was. The same can be pretty much said for Magic as he had no outside shot that could come anywhere close to what Larry had when they came into the league,but he worked at and committed himself to becoming a better outside shooter. Love of the game,a will to win and their competitiveness is what made them two of the greatess players to have ever played the game.

There's one thing that I must admit,even though I pretty much enjoy being the Rant's resident outcast,I've really and sincerely enjoyed the last couple weeks or so from the standpoint that we've all been civil with one another without all the name calling and trash talk. Except for maybe one individual here(will call no name),I respect and like most of you guys and that's why it's not difficult to engage in civil dialouge with you.By the way dude,I love the hell out of your avatar,outstanding.Late Bro.

RA, I honestly think everyone here is a good person. The problem is, we need ten times as many of these people, but at the same time don't want to sacrifice quality, for quantity.

Trash talk can be a lot of fun, but it can get old if that is all someone contributes.

I fully understand where you're coming PM,because I often found myself caught up in that type of situation of always trash talking and/or humiliating this one individual (no mention of name) ,as we never seemed to like one another and he would just irritate the hell out of me and it goes all the way back to 2003. Things always seemed to be more pleasant around here when I didn't have to deal with him on a daily basis and that's one reason why I've enjoyed the last couple weeks so,as I can just rant about ligitimate sports issues and disagree without it turning into personal confrontations.

PS- I'm sure that your avatar pic has had the same affect on others as it did you,it sure caught my attention.

I feel saddened by that. I never knew you felt that way RA. I figured you and * just did it for fun. I even chimed in, just to stir the pot. I apologize for that.

Here is my stand, and I am sure Mike will back me up, or I will kick him in the taco. This site is designed to be fun for all members. If you want to talk sports, and you log on and are constantly being attacked, then we, as the leaders, have failed you. We all spar, we all disagree, and we all trash talk for fun. But it should be respectful. Two things are not tolerated under any circumstance: Racism, and Personal Attack. In hindsight, that ball was dropped, and I apologize to you RA.

I am not going to do anything tonight, as things have been going well for a while. I see no need to ban anyone, or make any extreme move.

However, I want you, and any other member to know, that if there is a problem like that...REACH ME. I will fix it, and if I cannot, I will find someone who will. You can email, PM, IM or fucking call me. I don't care. If we have an unhappy member, I am an unhappy guy.

Keeping that in mind, I am glad you are finally able to enjoy the site. I hope it gets nothing but better for you. //////back on track.... this is the NBA forum.
