Pistons looked strong last night, Billups especially. Boston had some defensive lapses that cost them. The good news is Allen finally hit some shots.
Look for the Celtics to come back to Boston with at least one victory in the Motor City.

They better hope they take one in Detroit, they have not been good on the road in the playoffs and losing that one at home wasn't a good thing at all. Detroit is a damn consistent team, no huge scorer just all around good play.

It says here that they step up and win one out there, the first one preferably and in doing so show that they have some balls.

Is it just me or does this team not seem the same as the regular season team, to me it was like a dominating force that came onto the court in the regular season and in the playoffs it seems like they are just running out there to play a game, without the intimidating domination factor...I could be totally wrong...just a feeling I got.

Now it is a five game series and Detroit has the home court advantage.
The Pistons' back court is vastly superior to the Celtics' and last night was a prime example. Even if Billups is not 100% (and reports say he isn't) he still had a great game, Rip was Rip, and Stuckey was all kinds of awesome. Really though, everyone on the floor was doing his part; Sheed, Prince, McDyess, and even Lindsay Hunter. When the Pistons are playing at their best, they can score from all five positions. The Celtics can’t claim that. If you look at the outputs of Rondo and Perkins you’ll see what I mean. If you noticed how the Pistons played down the stretch, you'd see why their familiarity with each other is so key. Of course, being 28 of 32 from the line helps a lot as well! Anyway, the Pistons were in a super hostile environment with a hot crowd that was fully doing its part to will their team on. But the Pistons were able to use their familiarity with each other to come together and prevail as a group. I believe that is missing from the Celtics and that is a direct cause of their road struggles. Any NBA player will tell you that the regular season and the playoffs are totally different animals and if you have paid attention during the playoffs this year you will see that is the case. The core group on the Pistons has played together in the playoffs for 6 years and knows each other's games inside and out. The core group of the Celtics came together just this year. That is the Piston's biggest strength and that is why they can knock off the favorites.

Nice defensive game by Boston and a great job on the boards. Looking
I won't bother breaking down the verbose and ill-conceived analysis of the series thus far posted here on the 23rd except to mention that I did chuckle when I read the part about the playoffs being different than the regular season. I found that to be very.........enlightening.

Everyone have a good holiday weekend? It started off crappy for the Pistons but ended on a high note last night. Now as happy as I was with their performance last night, I am tired of this Jekyll and Hyde act from Detroit. Games 2 and 4 they looked like the best team in the league but game 3 they looked absolutely awful. If Detroit played every game they way they played in games 2 and 4 they would have swept this series, no doubt about it. The Celtics have not looked overly impressive in any of these games so far, it is just that the Pistons played so poorly in games 1 and 3 and the Celtics were able to take advantage of it. In fact, game 3 was so abysmal that I’m glad my memory of the 4th quarter is fuzzy and foggy. Thank God for strip clubs, they can make anyone feel better no matter how depressed you are. If the Celtics were the better team, I could accept the Pistons losing but that clearly is not the case. In fact, I would say that it is obvious that the Pistons are the better team and the Celtics have done a good job of letting the Pistons self destruct in those two games. Sometimes to win the game you have to play better and sometimes to win you just have to step back and let the other team play like crap.
I’m not trying to bury the Celtics though, their regular season speaks for itself plus I think having one of the cornerstone franchises (along with Philly, LA, and the Knicks) back in the spotlight is wonderful for the league. And even though their fans would once again show how arrogant and unbearable they are, seeing Garnett finally win a ring would be a very cool thing. I just hope that it is not this year and that if he does get his ring, he doesn’t have to go through Detroit to get it. |

If it is arrogant and unbearable you want, try the mirror.
Your entire thesis on the series thus far is is simplistice nattering which could be used by the fans of either team to make the case that theirs is the better club.
