I don't want to get rid of the automatic bids either. I like them. Just not their current setup. Im sorry if you are 15-15 or 13-18 (like Loyola was) you don't deserve a chance to get into the tourney that year. You are not good enough of a team to get into the tourney.

I don't think most people have a problem letting in the best teams from the smaller leagues, but when a subpar team in one of those leagues gets in based on a one off tournament, I can see Jay's point.

take george mason for example..they dominated the league they are in but lost in the semifinals...1 game can keep them out of the tournament when they clearly deserve to be in it...if they went based on regular season, george mason would easily have been in...once they lose..the committee throws them into a pool and takes a team from a bigger conference and they get shipped to the nit...unfair

Actually, after the set 31 bids, they take all the teams left and put them together, and take the next 31 best teams, so if your team is one of the top 34 you make the NCAA tourney.

One of the ESPN bracket guys said, you could take a kid from MIT thats never seen a game give him the info and the formula the committee uses and he can get 64 outta 65 every time.

I just don't want the NCAA tourney to turn into the BCS where only the Power Conferences have a shot, because the Big dawgs dont play middle of the row teams like Bucknell, seriously what major college is going to play them next year? It's just asking to be beaten.

At least they kept it very close in the first half... only down by one at the break. The 2nd half got a little out of hand.

Some pretty good early games to follow today as well. Then some even better games this evening!

Rusty's Vols are playing at 12:30 as well as Duke v. Miami.

Tonight my TarHeels start their ACC tourny and Villanova plays Pitt.

i had no real thoughts rutgers was gonna win anyway..it was nice they gave me hope till halftime...hopefully they do one game better in the nit this year
