well mike doesn't collect his own money...but if he takes first place (which I don't buy so far lol) does that just mean that second place...as of right now ssigs...gets the second place prize money?

Nope, pretend Meik isn't even there. If he wins, the 2nd place person will get 1st place money and so on. He is just doing it for fun and said he would stop picking if it bothered people. But i don't think he should have to stop if he's still going to pay out all the money.
