Not sure why supporting a good owner is so shocking?

Why? Does the NBA not need to be criticized? Personally, I applaud him for having the balls to do it. Also, he has the deep pockets to afford it.

BTW, I looked up his fine history, and I have to admit, the fines keep getting steeper, despite the fact that the infractions are relatively the same. We start at around $10K, and now we are at $250K. All for pretty much the same stuff. Does the NBA think they can get more money from him just because he has it? Just a thought.

Do NBA fines go to charity like other leagues? If thats the case then its a write off for Cuban and good publicity for the league a win-win.

I honestly don't know. He clearly has no problem paying them, and they have no problem charging them. If they go to charity, then that is great. If they go to the fat cats at NBA HQ, then it is wrong.

This is an old article, but I couldn't find anything more current. I ask people to find something more timely. It seems that all fines seem to disappear into the NBA office. I personally think this is something that needs to be questioned a little more and the article brings about a great point about where did Sprewells fines go?

Love or hate Cuban, he matches every dollar fined with a charitable donation. (according the the ABC affiliate in Dallas). That is pretty stand up.

Now he and Dan Marino are expressing an interest in buying the Pittlsburgh Penguins. That could be interesting.

Cuban has teased interest in the Pens for awhile now. He was interested in bringing a new arena or something. He would be an owner that could spike ticket sales in the short term at least.
