Can I ask you what race was it that you saw where just the driver was involved in the process?I've never seen one.

I've raced my friends before. granted we werent going 125 on turns, but then again we dont wanna die either. So no I've never seen a race with just 1 driver, but it doesn't change the fact that the car/horse is doing most of the work, along with the fact that the 'athlete' is just sitting there.

200 MPH on a track with 25+ other cars doing the same is no walk in the park...couple that with a competent pit crew that keeps you in the race I think this is as much of a sport as any. I mean in golf or baseball an external object such as a glove, bat, or club is needed to do the sport so does that make them less of a sport?

Not at all, a ball is also needed in most sports. It's not the extra equipment that makes or breaks a sport. What I'm saying is, that driving isn't. I understand, they are going 200+ mph, with great risk to their own life and safety. In fact, the most beloved member died just 2 or 3 years ago in the biggest race of the year.

But, they are driving. I understand it's 4 times as fast as what most persons have ever driven. along with it being 130 in the car. And I understand that, but I can't say I'm watching the sport of car racing when the guys are going around the track. its them driving. Pure and simple thats it. They're driving faster, but they are still driving.

I see what you are trying to say but that could easily be spun to say about any sport in reality they are all just doing something to win chasing a ball and wacking it with a club to get it in a hole or throwing a ball to a person to try to cross a line, while some sports are much more entertaining to watch than others if the goal is to win as part of an indvidual or team effort then it can be considered a sport. Trust me I am not defending Nascar because I rarely ever watch a race or have the desire to but its hard to say this isn't a sport IMO...and the opinion's of many many many people.

Not 1 driver in a race. I meant a driver with out a crew.It's a team sport.
Even if you could convince me the driver is doing no work, you can't convince
me the pit crew isn't doing any.

When you drive your car,do you lose 10 pounds like Nascar drivers do?
