Ooooh, good thread. Mine is a hockey game (go figure).
Bantam hockey, and we played a team from Denver Country Club. They were the rich kids. Funny really, because they were rich, but had the only outdoor ice rink....like they couldn't afford an effing building. Two of the players on their team had the last name Anschutz, as in the owner of the LA Kings. BIG money. It was below zero, and after the first period, they were owning us 2-0. Our coach gave us a verbal ass kicking, and we went to work. 30 seconds after the opening face off in the second, I went into their corner, and blindly backhanded the puck in front of the net. Unfortunately, my head was down, and I got leveled, but my blind pass hit the left winger, who one-timed for a goal. Another 30 seconds later, the exact same play occurred. But this time, I moved out of the way, and the guy who enjoyed hitting me from behind plastered himself against the boards. My trusty left winger scored again! I dropped my gloves, ripped off the guys helmet, and started throwing rights. After about 4 or 5, I realized I was holding him up. I let go, and he dropped like a rag doll....out COLD. We went on to win the game 4-2, but I got kicked out after the fight. ![]() |

2 assists and a fight. Almost a Gordie Howe hat trick, nicely done!

What a great thread, why didn't anyone think of this one before?
Here is my great moment. 8th grade CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) basketball. We went 21-0 in our regular season, being taught by a coach that used to coach college basketball. His offense was really complex and it worked to perfection. We ran the gammet in the district and regional playoffs ripping teams up. Then it was time to go to states. The guy that ran our athletics for the church/school, didn't like any of our coaches so instead of driving up the night before and staying the night, we left for Pittsburgh early in the morning, got stuck and traffic and had to go straight to the game and get dressed and then play. We were so exhausted and lost our 1st game of the year. So the guys that we lost to won the state championship and we came in 2nd. Back to Jay's story about bad baseball, I was on the same team from the year before and we won the City championship that year, then all the good players left. We had problems finding players to play for us, so we just told people to come and say that they were one of the players. It was a sad sight of baseball. Hence the 0-24. |

Well he couldn't take sides since we were both from small catholic schools. Oh well, the glory days are over.

I won a quoits tourney recently. Other than that its the same old stories of the glory days of baseball, soccer, and track/field.
Backyard football was the best though. Always good times especially how young I was compared to the guys I played with. |
