I've heard of him and heard some stories but never really paid attention. Descent read on the guy from wiki.

Steve Grogan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Got any good stories for us about him Bil?

I just loved to watch him play. He replaced Jim Plunkett, who was a #1 draft choice. Plunkett had the misfortune of playing behind what might have been the worst offensive line in NFL history. By the time Grogan came along though the Pats had John Hannah, Leon Gray, Bill Lenkatitus and some good running back and recievers.

He threw the pass that Darryl Stingley tried to catch when he got parilyzed.

At one time he held the rushing record for QB's.

He never avoided a tackle and was well-known for lowering his head into the midsections of opposing players when running in the open field.

Would roll to the right or left, pitch the ball to a RB and then throw a block at who whatever defensive player was left in the destructive wake of Hannah & Gray(probably the best pulling block duo ever).

In my mind is one of the most underrated QB's of my lifetime.
