mock draft v2.0..ok franchised players and free agency is rounding down...combine is done and only pro days are left...here is my new mock


1 Dolphins - C. Long - DE Virginia (previous - trade cowboys d-mac)

tried to trade the pick...were tempted by taking matt ryan but in the end parcells goes defense...best 3-4 DE in the draft and a guy you build your defense around..plus with taylor saying he wants out..it just makes sense

2 St. Louis - Vernon Gholston - DE/LB OSU 9 (previous - trade chiefs j. long)

so yea...st. louis can go in alot of directions..they need help on the OL and at DT..but with workout warrior and future bust soaring up the boards and dorsey having question marks..they thankfully take gholston and spare me from having the jets take him

3 Falcons - Matt Ryan - QB B.C.(previous - trade jets c. long)

I really wanna believe they will go in another direction here and take a qb in round 2..but in the end i think they go with ryan here and hope he's the qb of the future to go with michael turner and to help clean up the terrible image they have right now

4 Raiders - J. Long - OT Michigan (previous - Glenn Dorsey DT LSU)

so it could be d-mac but in reality they don't need him..it could easily be dorsey or ellis to replace sapp but with the money given to tommy kelley, i think they go another route and get a bookend tackle to protect russell..i haven't seen really any mocks with this pick

5 Chiefs - Glenn Dorsey - DT LSU (previous - trade St. Louis Sedrick Ellis - DT USC)

worst case scenario for the chiefs..long is gone and so is gholston...they still have a choice of the best DTs and i think they go with the dorsey here despite ellis having a great offseason...herm edwards is a franchise killer

6 Jets - Darren Mcfadden - RB Arkansas (previous - trade Atlanta - M. Ryan QB BC)

ok so this is a wish pick..it would finally give them the playmaker on offense they haven't had in a long time...its not a direct need but the best player in the draft falls in your lap and you can't pass him up or the c*nts behind them will take him
other option: sedrick ellis and move him to DE..that happens and i'm an eagles fan

7 Pats - Ryan Clady - OT Boise State(previous - trade Chicago - Brian Brohm QB Louisville)

i honestly feel they will trade out of this pick but i've taken trades out of this mock so i went with a bit of a reach here..most people think CB at this pick but i think the giants exposed an OL that can't handle speed rushers

8 Ravens - Leodis McKelvin - CB Troy State(previous - Vernon Gholston DE/OLB Ohio State)

the ravens are in a tough spot...they need a qb but its to early for one...so they do what they do best...draft defense...the cb's are getting up there in age and sedrick ellis isn't a fit for that defense...especially since they have haloti ngalaadkljvehatl(the big samoan who played at oregon)

9 Bengals – Sedrick Ellis - DT USC(previous - Keith Rivers – OLB USC)

how lucky this team is that ellis falls to them..after failing to get d-rob from the jets...which pisses me off, they get a top 5 talent at 9..f them

10 Saints – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - CB TSU(previous - Kenny Phillips – S Miami)

despite the signing of a gay cb...they still need help..phillips has fallen off the map after a terrible offseason so they go with the fast rising prospect

11 Buffalo - Malcolm Kelly – WR Oklahoma

the bills really need some playmaking wr’s and he has great size 6’4 to go opposite lee evans…the draft is really deep at linebacker so they know they’ll get a 1st round talent in the early 2nd...i'm not 100% sold on this pick cause its a reach but i don't know who else they'd go for at this point without trading

12 Denver – Chris Williams - OT Vandy (previous - Sam Baker – OT USC)

baker has fallen into round 2 it seems...williams is a massive gentleman who's keeps rising up the boards...denver snatches him up pissing off carolina

13 Carolina – Jeff Otah - OT Pitt (previous - Ryan Clady – OT Boise State)

with jarrett getting arrested and 2 of there wr's signing elsewhere, i wanted to go WR here but jackson is to much like steve smith and limas sweed would be to high at this point...i say they take otah and team him up with gross to have bookend tackles

14 Bears – Rashard Mendenhall - RB Illini (previous - trade Pats – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie – CB TSU)

the bears need help..running back and wr along with o-line...problem is the best o-lineman are gone..jackson is to much like hester and sweed is still a reach...unfortunately the bears experiment with benson hasn't worked out...they get a monster of a talent in mendenhall and i think they pick up a wr in round 2...one of the qb's will need guys to throw to

15 Lions – Keith Rivers - OLB USC(previous - Mike Jenkins – CB USF)

well the lions got leigh bodden and signed the guy from tampa..plus they canned kevin jones leaving the rb spot as a big need..i still think they go defense though and take keith rivers to replace boss bailey and get a rb later

16 Cardinals – Jonathan Stewart - RB Oregon(previous - Reggie Smith – S Oklahoma)

edge has hit the age where rb's start dying off...they get the young rb to help out leinart and the wr's


17 Vikes – Philip Merling - DE Clemson(previous - Quentin Groves – DE/OLB Georgia)

i had groves here...he still might be the pick but merling is now considered a better prospect and a pure DE which the vikes need now that udeze(sp) has cancer and will be out

18 Texans - Mike Jenkins - CB South Florida(previous - Kentwan Balmer – DT UNC)

i still believe what i said earlier..read below...but now dunta robinson might be out longer than thought and jenkins is a top 10 talent and a position of need..i think they go this route...chris brown signed also signifies no rb taken in round 1

most people say rb here but I think differently in this respect…they are building a real young defense with Mario Williams, Amobi Okoye, Demeco Ryans and Dunta Robinson..they play the 4-3…why not add another piece to that defense and pick up a running back in round 2?

19 Eagles – James Hardy - WR Indiana(previous - Calais Cambell – DE Miami)

my previous choice ate his way out of round 1...possibly round 2 and 3 as well...he showed up out of shape and had possibly the worst combine and pro day..anyway...i'm reaching a bit but i feel the eagles finally take a shot at getting a true #1..sweed and jackson are rated higher but this guy is 6'6 and ran a 4.4 forty and he dominated the big 10..he's nfl ready and i think gets the nod over jackson because of size

20 Bucs – Desean Jackson(previous - Andre Woodson – QB Kentucky)

woodson killed his chances and dropped big time...out of round 1 and possibly 2..jackson is a good pick here...nasty on special teams and despite the size, he'd give tampa there version of devin hester/santana moss/steve smith

21 Skins – Derrick Harvey – DE Florida

really they would love a safety here but there are none worth taking….only reggie smith but i think they pass and pick up a DE that helps them get younger and faster at a spot they need

22 Cowboys – Aqib Talib - CB Kansas(previous - trade Miami Limas Sweed – WR Texas)

dallas gets a top cb and one of the best cover corners in the draft...good size and a pure ballhawker...i like this guy alot and i think he comes in and starts by year's end

23 Steelers – Branden Albert - G Virginia (previous - Jeff Otah – OT Pittsburgh)

faneca is gone and starks is there to start but i think they still go this route as all the other top lineman are gone...they could go wr but i think they wait and instead get the best guard prospect in the draft

24 Titans – Limas Sweed(previous - Desean Jackson – WR California)

don't waste young's talents...i know most of you don't like him as a qb but i think if surrounded with more offensive talent, young could be a very capable and good qb..this is a start

25 Seahawks – Kentwan Balmer - DT North Carolina(previous - Jonathan Stewart – RB Oregon)

no need for rb right now and with trufant franchised, i think they go interior line and try to bulster a defense that didn't show much in the playoffs

26 Jags – Lawrence Jackson - DE USC(previous - Aqib Talib – CB Kansas)

I don’t follow the jags and I know the defense is good..but they traded away some pieces they didn't feel fit anymore..they need to replenish and i can't see them going wr in round 1 again

27 Chargers – Carl Nicks - OT Nebraska (previous - Rashard Mendenhall - RB Illinois)

i read they have this pick and then don't pick again till round 5!!! so its a possiblity they trade this...but since i'm doing no trades..i think they reach here and get a guy who's a top round 2 pick..they cut shane olivea and that leads me to believe they need help there

28 Boys – Early Doucet – WR LSU

do i ever see this as a trade out spot as well...all the top wr's are off the board and all the 1st round grade rb's are gone as well...so now i'm conflicted on what they do..i'm going to stick with doucet for now...although i don't think he'll be the pick on draft day


29 Niners – Quentin Groves - DE/OLB Auburn(previous - Chris Williams – OT Vanderbilt)

he slipped a bit but still a very dangerous pass rusher...needed by the niners to actually pressure the qb and not make the cb's cover the opposing wr's for 10 seconds each play

30 Packers – Antoine Cason – CB Arizona

favre is gone but they still havave Jennings and driver and they hope grant holds up…they need to continue to build the defense keeping it younger…the cb’s are good but they are starting to get up there in age

31 Giants – Kenny Phillips - S Miami(previous - Pat Sims – DT Auburn)

they lost what's his name and signed that other guy...my point is they didn't overpay to keep gibril wilson and sammy knight is not the long term answer

My Raiders - I'd LOVE to get Jake Long obviously, and i'd also be very happy with adding Howie's kid as well. But logically, I really hope they take Dorsey. A healthy Kelly and Dorsey could really help get our run defense out of being the worst again.

I'd love for the Eagles to go for a WR but they wont...jackson is the guy I keep hearing they like a lot which I think you have going as the next pick. They'll go DT or O line I think...but that could change depending on the rest of the offseason and whatnot.

I still think that the Raiders take Mcfadden.

I like the Cards taking a RB too but I like Stewart to the Lions (as previously stated) and possibly Jones to the Cards or the Cowboys at 22.

i think the raiders could really go j. long if gholston goes 2...yea they need a dt but some health concerns for dorsey and the combine that long had..i can easily see them taking long there...i don't know who they would take at 36..some more OL is available in those spots but they could reach for a wr..but i doubt it

yea i went trade happy...it was early...eagles could go jackson easily...i went hardy purely on size...i feel the eagles need that big target more than they need a 5'10 speed guy...plus hardy ran a 4.4/4.5 which is still fast...

if the raiders were smart, they pass on mcfadden...felix jones had a real bad combine and i think he slipped to round 2...possibly middle of round 2....we have 1 month and 12 to find out
