mock draft v3.0..now officially less than a month away..lots of signings still going on..here's my new mock without trades



1 Dolphins - C. Long - DE Virginia

rumor and i state rumor has jacksonville interested in giving up there 1st rounder for jason taylor..pricey imo but if that happens...long is a lock here at 1

2 St. Louis - Vernon Gholston - DE/LB OSU

they cut and then resigned james hall cause they overpaid to get him originally and then he was a bust..add leonard little at 34 and DE is a bigger need than OL....they thankfully take gholston and spare me from having the jets take him

3 Falcons - J. Long - OL Michigan (previous - M. Ryan)

with three 2nd round picks now after the hall deal, they can easily get a qb by trading back into round 1(with san diego) or wait and get one in round 2...long is the best OL and a future pro bowl LT

4 Raiders - Darren Mcfadden Rb Arkansas (previous - J. Long - OT Michigan)

damn...they retooled the D line this offseason and added Hall to the secondary...i now think they go with mcfadden, cut jordan in june and use rhodes sparingly...yuck..i just don't think they go dorsey or ellis anymore...there was a rumor that is now squashed that the jets were trying to move up to 4....

5 Chiefs - Glenn Dorsey - DT LSU

dorsey had a good pro day and herm talked him up so much that i think this is the clear option at this point...sorry glenn, herm is the worst coach

6 Jets - Mike Jenkins - CB South Florida (previous - Darren Mcfadden - RB Arkansas)

worst case scenario will happen...no long, long or mcfadden...even ghloston is gone leaving the jets with noone worthy of pick 6...ellis is to small to play 3-4 DT and i'm not thrilled with any CB at this spot...i really think trading down is the best option...i took jenkins here cause i'm just not sold on the small school cb's



7 Pats - Ryan Clady - OT Boise State

i honestly feel they will trade out of this pick but i've taken trades out of this mock so i went with a bit of a reach here..most people think CB at this pick but i think the giants exposed an OL that can't handle speed rushers

8 Ravens - Leodis McKelvin - CB Troy State

the ravens are in a tough spot...they need a qb but its to early for one...so they do what they do best...draft defense...the cb's are getting up there in age and sedrick ellis isn't a fit for that defense...especially since they have haloti ngalaadkljvehatl(the big samoan who played at oregon)

9 Bengals – Sedrick Ellis - DT USC

how lucky this team is that ellis falls to them..after failing to get d-rob from the jets...which pisses me off, they get a top 5 talent at 9..f them..i think an ocho cinco/lito sheppard trade is in the works as well...

10 Saints – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - CB TSU

despite the signing of a gay cb...they still need help..i dont care how much money they gave gay and jason david...they improved there lb corp..why not continue to fix the secondary

11 Buffalo - Malcolm Kelly – WR Oklahoma

the bills really need some playmaking wr’s and he has great size 6’4 to go opposite lee evans…the draft is really deep at linebacker so they know they’ll get a 1st round talent in the early 2nd...i'm not 100% sold on this pick cause its a reach but i don't know who else they'd go for at this point without trading

12 Denver – Chris Williams - OT Vandy

williams is a massive gentleman who's keeps rising up the boards...denver snatches him up pissing off carolina

13 Carolina – Jeff Otah - OT Pitt

with jarrett getting arrested and 2 of there wr's signing elsewhere, i wanted to go WR here but jackson is to much like steve smith and limas sweed would be to high at this point...i say they take otah and team him up with gross to have bookend tackles

14 Bears – Rashard Mendenhall - RB Illini

the bears need help..running back and wr along with o-line...problem is the best o-lineman are gone..jackson is to much like hester and sweed is still a reach...unfortunately the bears experiment with benson hasn't worked out...they get a monster of a talent in mendenhall and i think they pick up a wr in round 2...one of the qb's will need guys to throw to

15 Lions – Keith Rivers - OLB USC

well the lions got leigh bodden and signed the guy from tampa..plus they canned kevin jones leaving the rb spot as a big need..i still think they go defense though and take keith rivers to replace boss bailey and get a rb later

16 Cardinals – Jonathan Stewart - RB Oregon

edge has hit the age where rb's start dying off...they get the young rb to help out leinart and the wr's...they need cb's as well so i wouldn't be shocked by an aqib talib selection here as well


17 Vikes – Philip Merling - DE Clemson

its merling, groves or harvey with this pick...it's just who they like the most at this point

18 Texans - Aqib Talib - CB Kansas (previous - Mike Jenkins - CB South Florida)

i still believe what i said earlier..read below...but now dunta robinson might be out longer than thought cb is a of need..i think they go this route...chris brown signed also signifies no rb taken in round 1

most people say rb here but I think differently in this respect…they are building a real young defense with Mario Williams, Amobi Okoye, Demeco Ryans and Dunta Robinson..they play the 4-3…why not add another piece to that defense and pick up a running back in round 2?

19 Eagles – Devin Thomas - WR Michigan State(previous - James Hardy - WR Indiana)

i still wanna believe the eagles will go WR here to finally help out an westbrook and mcnabb...this guy is soaring right now and could possibly be the first WR off the board come draft day...i still feel i'm reaching a bit but i feel the eagles finally take a shot at getting a true #1..sweed, jackson and hardy are also on the board and could be the choice but right now..thomas gets the nod

20 Bucs – Keith Rivers - OLB USC (previous -Desean Jackson -WR Cal)

rivers at 20 is an absolute steal and thats why i think they go this route instead of jackson..they can get a wr later on

21 Skins – Derrick Harvey – DE Florida

really they would love a safety here but there are none worth taking….only reggie smith but i think they pass and pick up a DE that helps them get younger and faster at a spot they need

22 Cowboys – Limas Sweed - WR Texas(previous - Aqib Talib - CB Kansas)

with the top cb's gone, they know they can get one with the other 1st rounder so they take a hometown boy(texas is big, i know...deal with my sayings) and hope he develops better than crayton

23 Steelers – James Hardy - WR Indiana (previous - Branden Albert - G Virginia)

with big ben clamoring for a tall wr like he had with plaxico, the steelers stupidly listen to him and go for hardy insead of albert...don't get me wrong, hardy is tall, fast and nfl ready but they lost faneca and the other guys didn't play well last year..they need an upgrade there more than at wr

24 Titans – Desean Jackson - WR Cal (previous - Limas Sweed– WR Texas)

please help vince young out..jackson brings pure speed and great special teams play...he can be devin hester with actual receiving skills

25 Seahawks – Brandon Albert- G Virginia(previous - Kentwan Balmer - DT North Carolina)

if the steelers pass on him, the hawks won't...they never replaced hutchinson and this is the best chance they have at doing that

26 Jags – Lawrence Jackson - DE USC

I don’t follow the jags and I know the defense is good..but they traded away some pieces they didn't feel fit anymore..they need to replenish and i can't see them going wr in round 1 again

27 Chargers – Gosder Cherulius - OT B.C.(previous - Carl Nicks - OT Nebraska )

i read they have this pick and then don't pick again till round 5!!! so its a possiblity they trade this...possibly with atlanta looking to move back up and getting brohm...but since i'm doing no trades..i think they reach here and get a guy who's a top round 2 pick..they cut shane olivea and that leads me to believe they need help there..i previously had nicks here but he was just arrested for drinking underage at a college party and people are dumb so he'll drop cause of that..san diego's loss..miami's gain!

28 Boys – Antoine Cason - CB Arizona(previous - Early Doucet – WR LSU)

boys get there wr and now get there cb...well played first round by jerry jones...


29 Niners – Quentin Groves - DE/OLB Auburn

niners not happy with pick 29 when they shoulda had 7..so why not take a guy who's career will most likely be unknown..will he show that great edge rushing ability or will he be the guy who was sitting out due to toe injuries?


30 Packers – Tracy Porter - CB Indiana(previous - Antoine Cason – CB Arizona)

favre is gone but they still have Jennings and Driver and they hope grant holds up…they need to continue to build the defense keeping it younger…the cb’s are good but they are starting to get up there in age

31 Giants – Kenny Phillips - S Miami

they lost what's his name and signed that other guy...my point is they didn't overpay to keep gibril wilson and sammy knight is not the long term answer
