yes, snowball effect.. perfect wording. The bigger contract players are signing this year are going to hurt the league in the future as well. Teams are going to have to give up players they don't want to simply because they run out of cap room. Which the Flyers are having trouble with now because Gags and Joni want a lot of money as well. Not to mention Carter and Richards are going to need to be re-signed next year (i think), so we'll have to get rid of other players to sign them...cough,Hatcher,cough.

Don't players realize this shit...then again what do they care...good enough...or young enough someone somewhere will pay them....the cap will be increased this year however right? Is that set to rise every year like the NFL? If so won't it be only a few years till the cap is back to where most teams were pre cap? Ugh I hate sports players and their money issues!

True, but because of the salary cap,at least,we,the fans, can enjoy the lower
ticket prices.

Yeah the cap is being raised this year and teams are already having trouble getting under the raised cap. And the cap isn't set to go up every year unless the league and teams make enough in revenue. It's to be analyzed on a year to year basis. So it may not go up very much, if at all, from one year to another. And it could even go down as well. Imagine the mess that would cause.

That is actually in the agreement that the cap could go DOWN based on revenue and whatever else? Oh my god...they would not have a season that year....at least they are playing hockey...but shit they did a horrid job getting this whole setup to make any sense!

ooooh yeah. Had I renewed my season tickets, they would have been 50%
higher. Granted, I bought my 05-06 (supposed to have been 04-05)tickets before the team won the Cup to lock in the same price as the 03-04 season.
But still a hefty increase over two seasons.

No longer a rumor....

RJ signs a 2 year contract.... financial terms not disclosed. I can't wait to see what it is... the NHLPA.com should have it up soon.

50% increase Rusty?? Holy shit... and they have serious potential to suck this year. I'm betting ticket sales are going to suck this year.

Yep,at least where I sat. So,I guess more like 25% each year since the Cup.
The first increase last season for those that didn't renew early, nobody cared because of the championship. The 2nd increase ought to be interesting coming off a mediocre season and the loyal season ticket holders like myself that got hit with both season increases at the same time.I gotta think the consecutive sellout streak may end.

Okay, RJ Umberger did sign for $2.3 million... but that is over the 2 years... not just for one year. PHEW! I think $1.15 mil is much more like it. Its funny how rumors get out there that are very close to being right but also very far off as well. Good job Clarkie on that one.

Now, GET GAGNE AND JONI SIGNED!
