TSN.CA (via CP): reported yesterday Philadelphia Flyers captain Keith Primeau continues to struggle with post-concussion symptoms and may have to soon give the club an answer as to whether or not he can continue his NHL career. "Primeau has two years and $6.84 million US remaining on his contract but knows the Flyers will need to have a decision from him soon because his salary is tying up valuable room under the team's cap."

Now, i've grown to be a HUGE fan of our captain, but its really time for him to hang them up and retire. These symptons have been coming and going for over 2 years now. The Flyers can really use that $3.4 mil this year. It will give them alot of room to make some trades and get that scoring winger they so desperatly need.

their is nothing in hockey where they can put the guy on an physically unable to perform list and re-coup his salary cap space for the season...as long as he doesn't play?

Yeah there is something like that. I think if you put the player on IR you can use his salary for another player. But when that player comes back you have to get back down to fit under the cap. Which could be tough because you can't just cut a player and not have his money count anymore.

But i don't know the exact rules about this. All i know is that Keith's contract has the Flyers in a bind at the moment.

0- the number of cups the stanley cups the flyers have won since 75 or 76 its been so long i forget.

Jay never seeing his beloved flyers win a cup in his lifetime- PRICELESS. (especially for us ranger fans).

Ugh, thats way past old... I would love someone to actually be creative and come up with something new. I don't see why people get so much enjoyment of me being miserable because i have not seen a cup.

Anyway...

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed 5’10”, 185-pound center Daniel Corso, 6’5”, 255-pound defenseman Martin Grenier (GREH-nyay), 6’2”, 220-pound left wing Boyd Kane and 6’0”, 192-pound right wing Matt Ellison each to a one-year contract, according to club Assistant General Manager Paul Holmgren. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

Just moves for the Phantoms cuz they needed players. Kane and Ellison are return Phantoms. Plus this gives us some decent call-up players if the injury bug attacks the shit out of us again.

Flyers Sign Free Agent Left Wing Geoff Sanderson

Uhhhh, I hope this isn't their idea to replace Gags on the left. However, i like the signing because he's better than all the other garbage they've picked up in the off-season. This came out of no where. At least he's still pretty quick.

All these signings are saying something.... just not sure what. Kappy not coming back? Gags being traded? Zus being traded? I smell something, thats for sure. We have like a 28 man roster at this point.
