See I didn't take it that way which is what I liked...sure we know its not happening now or probably even next year but thats the player he feels he can be now and will be. The response that its an open competition was just a nice way of saying...simmer down and earn in..eventually.

You certainly could be right... but the "aspire to be a 1st liner" is the part that makes me think he's talking about down the road. It would be GREAT if he is trying hard enough to be the 1st line winger, because thats what everyone should try to do. But he's really only a boarder line 3rd liner as of right now.

Wheres that quote from? I am talking about the press conference comment and how I took that and the response from the team to let it up to "open competition".

I know I'm a new fan and all but hasn't Knuble been knocked off the first line before?
Isn't it possible Lupul could see some time there just to see if something clicks?

He hasn't been dropped from the top line because of his on ice play... the guy is perfect with a playmaking center and Gagne. He's one of our most underrated players, and a 30 goal scorer. Not to mention style of play and chemistry are a big factor... Gags and Knuble have been together the last two years.

But sure, its possible... but he's got to be much better than he was in Edmonton last season. He certainly has every chance to be our top RW once Knuble is gone though.
