Anywhoo...obviously that works..so why not do that exactly? I fear that we are moving closer towards the sabres type of team which sucks. We need to keep the philly style of play but just be damn F'in good on O and D.

Well there is much more to the Ducks style of play that just being physical. Having a top goalie and 2 of the best 5 d-men in the league lets you take many more risks. The Ducks took A LOT of stupid penalties this season, but because they could put Pronger and Neidermeyer on the ice in front of Giggy, they were able to get through the PP's.

I know i'm not telling you something you don't know... but it is a major reason they could do it. Just about every other team in the league wouldn't be able to do it. They lead the NHL in penalty minutes, but finished 6th in the league in goals against... very impressive.

Like you said I know that, almost no teams in the league could produce combo stats like that or lead in PIM's and do that well...I'd rather we be the Flyers we know as tough and gritty than finesse and speed..I NEED a good combo of both or it may be Ducks for the future lol. I'd rather stay as we have always been or lead towards the Ducks philosophy than go the other direction like the gaybres!

We'll still be gritty enough... Hartnell likes to get his hands dirty, and with Richards, Eager, Hatcher, Coburn and Cote there will be some hitting. I think they are setting themselves up with a pretty good combo... but if this team went the "Ducks route" we would be screwed.

Oh and Neidermeyer and Selanne are thinking about retiring... trust me, the Ducks won't be playing that way for much longer. Won't be able to get away with it soon.

I saw a rumor they wanted to offer Gomez 7.8 million dollars. I guess their goal is to make Brad Richards look like a freaking bargain.

Please explain how this team is being built like the Rangers.

And i'm torn on the whole $7.8 mil for Gomez. He's a very good play maker and two way player. He would fit great in between Gagne and Knuble, he really won't need to worry about scoring much himself. BUT, that does sound like an awful lot of cap space for a player who probably doesn't deserve that much money.
