Bringing Forsberg back for a year is very risky... you risk not being able to get that #1 center you need so badly next year. And if you can, guess what, you are going to pay the same, if not more, for that player next season. Not to mention, what does Forsberg do for our future? You MUST address your teams major needs if you want to become a cup contender. In this case its a top center. And Drury, Briere and Gomez are the only real options and will all get the same amount of money.

Also, there are always players contracts running out to make room to sign the youth. I dont feel like typing every year out, but like this year, Gauthier, Sanderson and Rathje can all come off the cap. (thats like $8mil+ right there). Other players then become expendable when the younger players get more experience. As long as you have your top core of players you can always fill in around them.

Well then they should make sure they are the top bidder for Drury.
I don't think the Flyers will win the Cup with Gomez or Briere as the #1 center

obviously Rusty has much more faith in Jay than in me, took me a million posts and finally jay did it with 1.

Jay you should be proud of me!

I'll take any of the three to be honest...Gomez or Drury if not then Briere.

it just amazes me how everyone freaked out over $6+ million contracts a while back and now you guys think nothing of nearly $8 million on a less than a point a game center (Gomez).

Drury Rusty? The last person i want is Drury... i want the Flyers to stay far away from him. We need a playmaker, Drurys never really been accused of being one of those. Shit before he was put on those good Sabres lines he was nothing more than a 2nd liner at best. Plus he's 30, gomez is 27.

Forsberg was my idea IF they can't get one of the top 3 this season... then they will HAVE to hold out hope for next off season. I don't want them doing something stupid and signing a Nylander to a multi year deal and then not being able to get someone good next season.

lol, getting more and more proud of you Beers! Keep up the good work.

Cap is higher now and Gomez never played with Gagne and Knuble.

I think Gomez is the best fit if we are going after the three...I really like Briere but he's not the right fit it seems with his style.

Unfortunaltely the market sets these prices while I think its bad for the NHL, if you don't buy the top players at those levels for a key piece that is a top need then you aren't going to compete. I think Hartnell is getting to much based on his play to this point but I guess a lot of that is he is still young and has pretty big upside potential.

I like my teams to spend money (proplerly) to win so come on Homer make it happen!

And you think Drury's a better option as the #1 center? The man has never had 70 points in his entire career. He scored his career high in goals last year on a stacked offense-minded Buffalo team and still didn't hit 40. Drury is a great character guy and along with Brind'amour, the ideal #2 center on a contender, but he is not a #1 center. He's never been a #1 center in his career. I laugh at the team that pays him 7 million dollars and expects big numbers. That said, I'd love him on the Devils for 5 million in a complementary role.

Also, I think Drury's a particularly bad fit for the Flyers as they need a playmaker between Knuble and Gagne, and that's not really his strong suit.
