LOL, if I were NHL calibre I'd be retired and rich!! But yeah I get your point - especially since each of those 3 average over 20 minutes of ice a game.
Agree 100% on the Philly/Oiler trade and Lupul. Completely mis-used here, and his confidence got rocked - Lupul will show just how good he is this year and many after. And Smith is a nice fit for the blueline, with the offence Philly appears to have, all they need is solid defence that can play the transition, and Smith is good with the all important first pass from his zone. Lowe got taken - Holmgren played on Lowe's desperation to get a puck moving defenceman plus his embarrassment on the Lupul & Syjora situation. Lowe got schooled by Holmgren. |

true, but that's a big if. Pitkonen HAS shown flashes of brilliance, he definely has the raw talent - but his head worries me. Also, given the past 3 or so years of Oiler history - they are the last team that should think they can treat a head case...fair or not for me to say, it seems that MacTavish has created far more head cases (3 goalies, Lupul, Sykora etc.) than he has corrected (zero). Before you jump on me - I know it's not just MacTavish, but he's the coach he gets the 'credit'.

The Philly GM schooling someone... what a total change this is from what we're used to. We're used to trading everything we have for Adam Oates and Danny Markov for 3 months. |

good call there Jay. As much as I respected Bobby Clarke as a player, man he sucked as a GM. It all started when he gave up the team to get the rights to Lindros - and went downhill from there; never did recover from that (but the Nordiques did just fine thanks - a Stanley Cup trumps everything else).

Hell yeah, you will never hear a bad word from me about Bobby Clarke the player. Ever. But as a GM? You would have to be a blind follower to think he did a good job. Sure, he had SOME good moves, not everything he did was bad... but for the most part, i'd give him a grade of D-, and thats even being nice... cuz as you said... Cups are what matter.

Agreed. He is definitely the most talented of the traded players. But it won't do anyone any good unless he gets his crap together.

Okay. I removed penalty minutes and game winning goals and added short handed points and shots on goal.
I think SHP is a definite for the league, but I'm still not 100% sure about SOG - not sure what effect it will have on the league. But then again, it's the new "default" setting, so it couldn't be too weird. Also, not sure what to replace it with. I like the 5-4 ratio of shooter to goaltending stats. 12 days left and still plenty of room left in the league.

I'm confused you removed PIMs and game winning goals but added short handed points and game winning goals? Or was short handed points added in place of game winning goals?
Not sure I like short handed points all that much thats pretty much luck of the draw like game winning goals really to me. Also not sold on shots on goal either...how is that weighted...1 pt per shot so to speak? So if player A gets a goal and an assist they get 2 pts for their team but player B gets 4 shots on goal they get twice as many pts for their team just for shooting the puck?

2.SHP are not luck at all. How is getting a goal and assists a man down luck? 3.SOG's are totaled for the week. You get 1 point if your team gets more SOG's that week then the other guy you are up agianst.

I like SHP's... but i like them even more if they help get rid of PIM and GWG's.
And Satan, are you sure "SOG" is shots on goal, not "shoot out goals". I just want to make sure, lol... i will never be in any league that has stats that has to do with the shootouts. |
