smart Rusty - in a 7 game series, even a BRUTALLY outclassed team can squeak a single win out.

IF that were true, I'd say that would be one of the most ridiculous thing I've read on here. Teams ride goalies into the playoffs all the time.

Since it's not true, I'll say that you left out Brenden Morrow, Mike Ribeiro, Modano, Richards and Stephane Robidas.

yeah, fair enough retort Nick, and I have to admit that the Stars did surprise me this year. And you are right that many cups have been won by teams riding hot goalies (actually, I can only think of a couple of teams that have won withOUT the hottest goalies at the time - Detroit and that's about it). But - the talent on the Ducks blueline will completely shutdown the Dallas offence and sorry, but I see Dallas as the weakest team that made the playoffs by far. Turco is the only position that they can potentially claim an advantage - and he was't enough last year nor will he be this year.

The Stars have won just 4 of their last 14 games. They are limping into the playoff and playing a team who is very hot right now.

Its not going to be pretty buddy, i'm sorry.

4 for 14 and about to go 1 for 5 to finish the year on a 5 for 19 streak. Of all the series in the first round, I see this as the second most lopsided behind only Montreal's upcoming destruction of the Bruins. I really can't see Dallas getting by the Ducks, it's a terrible matchup for Dallas.

Won three and tied one of the last five. Sharks stirred 'em up in the last game. They are the red-hot team now. Look out NHL!!

well Nick, I hope you're right - I'd love to see Dallas at least scare the Ducks. That gamne against the the Sharks on the weekend was FINE entertainment. To be honest, I had no idea that the Stars had that much grittiness in them, it was good to see. They'll need all that and more against the Ducks, but the one thing working in the Stars' favour is the Ducks low goalscoring - if the Stars can score first they may have a chance (small but it's there). Maybe Richards will regain the fire he had when he first landed in Dallas.

One other thing:
It's not like the Stars are getting killed. They haven't lost a game by more than 2 goals since Feb 14th and 3 of the 4 two goal losses were from empty-netters. I say all of that simply to say that they are in the games that they are playing. Just need a little O to step up and put some in the basket.

yeah but that's their style of game Nick - they know they have to play defensive, disciplined, system based hockey and keep the scores down, and hope to win by one or two. The last thing the Stars would want is to get into a shootout type of game. Although, for the Ducks series their best bet might be to reverse that because the Ducks are the kings of shutdown hockey. Assuming Turco plays well (no reason to think he won't), they will need to score quick and often, and somehow figure out how to keep Neids (Scott) away from the puck. They are in tough, but hey, if the best team on paper always won sports would be dead.
