In other news, it looks like Wainwright will return as the closer instead of a starter. I have no problem with this.

I don't know about a sweep, but I'm sure we'll lose Saturday's game against Zambrano. That guy just owns us. I also hate him with the white hot passion of 1,000 burning suns.

With one game "in the bag" according to you the Cubs should take the series. Just be happy you don't face Harden too

Also The Cubs and Cardinals are currently tied with 2 outs in the top of the 11th at 2-2. Joe Mather has a home run for the Cardinals and Jimmy has to solo shots against his former team. Now going to the bottom of the 11th still tied 2-2.

Cubs start the bottom of hte 11th with a walk from Lee followed by a single that advances Lee to 3rd. Cardinals IBB Fukodome and Henry Blanco hits a liner past drawn in infielder Cesar Izturis for the win.

Cubs take game 1 3-2 in 11 innings.

Game 2 should be a Cubs win as you said Andy but you never know with these two teams taking the field.

Cardinals dominating game 2 so far.

9-2 in the bottom of the 5th.

Troy Glaus entered the series at 0-29 this year against the Cubs. He got out his first at bat and then proceeded to hit a 2 run bomb, then a 3 run bomb in his next 2 at bats.

Schumaker and Pujols both have solo shots. Felipe Lopez has an RBI and Schumaker has another RBI.

Cubs got both their runs on solo shots, one from Derosa and one from Zambrano.

Looking bad for the Cubs right now.

So we win the game I was sure we would lose and lose the other two games because we can't score more that two fucking runs. Awesome.

At least Carpenter looked good once again. That's a real nice development. What isn't a nice development though is the possible tricep strain. Ugh.

Entering the road stand of 6 games the Cubs had a 4 game lead on Milwaukee after leaving Florida where they usually struggle they gain 1.5 games on the Brewers and now lead by 5.5 games.

My take on the series

Cubs could very well sweep the Reds thanks in part to missing Volquez in the series

Game 1 is Cubs' Rich Harden vs struggling young guy from Cincy Johnny Cueto

Game 2 is Cubs' Ted Lilly vs Bronson Arroyo who can only help himself on the mound if he homers at the plate thanks to his 10-10 5.51 ERA.

Game 3 matches Cubs' Carlos Zambrano coming off consecutive bad starts against Reds 3-13 5.59 ERA Aaron Harang if we lose a game in the series i would say it would be this one because the odds are stacked in the Cubs' favor and they like to blow those games.

Brewers Vs Astros

Game 1 Randy Wolf Vs C.C. Sabathia The Brewers take this one handily behind another complete game 110+ pitching performance from C.C. as Ned Yost tries to wear him down for the home stretch.

Game 2 Brian Moehler vs Ben Sheets he puts his undefeated record on the line against the Astros this year 2-0 in 3 starts this season, I predict a blow up in about the 6th inning. Astros take game 2.

Game 3 Wandy Rodriguez vs Manny Parra if the good Parra shows up the Brewers take the series but if Parra struggles then the Astros take the series on the road and possibly climb a little closer to the race in comparison to the Brewers and Cards.

Cards Vs Pitt

The cardinals should take both games in the set vs the Pirates but you never know what can happen

Game 1 Ian Snell vs Braden Looper

The Cardinals smash Snell around and make him look like the 5.91 ERA pitcher like he is, something along the lines of a 9-3 win.

Game 2 Jason Davis faces off against Todd Wellemeyer

If Wellemeyer comes to pitch like his last outing the Cardinals dominate winning in blowout fashion. Even though Jason Davis has been good early the Cards get to him for 4 runs and the question is if Wellemeyer can keep going what he had in his last outing. As well as only allowing 8 runs in his past 5 starts, I think Wellemeyer shows up and the Cardinals take game 2 7-3.

Looks like the Cubs are going to run away and hide with the division.

I don't know about that Andy the Cubs have 6 left with the Brewers and 3 more with the Cardinals. Those 3 series right there could ultimately take the division out of the Cubs hands or could secure the division for the Cubs. The Cubs may be up 5.5 and 7.5 games right now but it's far from over IMO.
