UNC biggest idiots yet this year.

what a pathetic display of basketball to get the last shot of the game...If I'm the coach they run and run and run..

its called execution and they obviously didn't

Can't say I'm surprised...look at their head coach and check his track record in such situations.

as much as I hate to.....

you gotta give credit where it is due....and the ability to recognize the play and jump it was great defense, and once again great defense trumps great offense....

UNC only had 4 steals and turned the ball over 23 times and only had 10 assists, they average like 22!!!

17 of those TOs were steals by Duke, and they had 12 assists. UNC not looking good against a decent team away from home, thats not good come tourney time.

They turn the rock over 22 times, Rashad goes 2-11, Jawad goes 1-11 and they loose by 1 at the toughest gym in America against the number 8 team in the nation. Yeah that bodes badly for my boys.
Dook deserves alot of credit for creating those turnovers, but this is a case where the stats will lie to you a little, of the 17 steals at least 10 of them were mishandles that were picked up by Dook players, and only 4 led to any type of fast break opportunity for the Devils, of which 3 were stopped by our transistion defense.
UNC is much better than we played last night, and I look forward to having the rest of the season to prove it to everyone.........

My question is why didn't the PG penetrate after the spin move when he lost his defender?
He was at the top of the key with a clear shot to the middle of the paint, where he could have dished had the defense collapsed on him.

To me, it seemed more of the PG being scared, nervous, whatever than bad execution by the entire team.

I think 2 things 1) for whatever reason Ray Ray has had problems for 2 years executing this play(take it out of the play book) 1 reason is that everyone knows to switch screens and Rashad is alway covered, 2 is Ray tries so hard to make sure Rashad gets his, and he runs the play the way it was drawn up he somtimes prohibits his own creativity in this situation, everything he did including the spin move came right off the white board...
2) I think when Ray spun he saw Shelden close the lane and probably though that since he was moving that way, Rashad would pop free,

Im mostly with you guys, but......

any time a team can make you play as badly as UNC did (like KU did vs Nova) it makes you wonder if another team could do it too. I wasnt saying UNC got their pockets picked all nite by the # of steals, but they dont count gross mishandles like bouncing the ball off your foot into the defender as a steal, if they were careless dribbles, its because one of the big questions with UNC this year is how much they turn it over, and the amount of posessions dont matter because TOs feed to more posessions. TOs rarely happen in the last 5 secs of the shot clock......

So the question is, has Duke maybe shown that they arent as overrated as we once though by stretching Wake to the end at Wake where UNC lost pretty convincingly and then beating UNC at home and mostly stopping the secondary break Offense......70 pts, isnt that like 21 under their avg?

Or did this just show us that UNC has to have things go one way, or its trouble.

we'll see, UNC needs a good road win.

I think this shows 1) Dook is not as overrated as we thought they were, they have 6 really good players and are still thin, but without foul trouble which they didn't have Wednesday night it doesn't matter. 2) I think it shows UNC is capable of playing poorly, but to say another team is going to be able to 1)have 3 gaurds that can run the spread out by halfcourt 2) still have enough athletes on the court to stop both the break and the secondary break, 3)not get in foul trouble blocking 11 shots at the rim and 4) catch Carolina on a night where Rashad and Jawad are ice cold, the floor of hte by gym is over 100 degrees and slippery, and have their crowd be a factor, then your right I think it could happen again. Fortunatley for us the only true road tests we have left are at UCONN who does not have the gaurd play, and at Maryland which will be a test.......If you think the Heels will react the same way on a neutral court then I guess I don't blame you for grabbing onto whatever sliver of hope you think you can grasp tha would have the Cats turning around the outcome of the game in Chapel Hill.......

dang Rock....

I agree with most of what you said, only Duke hasnt played a real defensive team yet, so that may play out for them.

But what you said about UNC is mostly right, but were they cold, or were they just not getting the open looks that they are used to?

Oh, and Im not grabbing to any slivers of hope, thats corny, I mean, the game was decided at the foul line, and in the first 8 minutes. I dont see such a huge desparity at the line happening again, and I believe my Cats are looking alot less apt to get town 24-6 like they did then.......

Rematch would be a gooooood game

Allright I was a little bitter about the game before the Uconn game today so I had to lash out a little Toph.....Carolina was cold in the Dook game, McCants shoots well over 45% from 3 range and he missed some wide open shots, 2-11 is ridiculous.
Now obviously we are having some trouble with shot blockers, Shelden, 16 blocks against Uconn, and even y'alls 7'3 dude, but against Dook we were missing good looks from 3 in to 15 to, I mean if it wasnt for Ray Ray and Sean we would have lost that game by 20...

That being said I am greatly anticipating the rematch in Chapel Hill. I am actually going to it, my wife got me tickets for Christmas and I am headed out there with my brother...I like our chances
