Traveling to Dallas

So I will be in Dallas on business two weeks in March. Can anyone recommend any fun bars/restaurants that I should try out?

Nick would be the best at this...but there are tons of places I love...I'll try to remember or look them up...Fogo De Chao yum and almost any strip club I enjoyed haha...I think my fave was double d or something to that affect. Plenty of good steak houses.

Wow... lucky for you we have two people here who live IN Dallas. You should try to hook up with Mike and Nick. Mikes' a big dope, but he was fun to hang out with.

I'm solo actually, doing a site visit to a warehouse/production facility in Fort Worth and I will be staying at a nearby hotel. I'm not averse to any driving around though; I'd like to see the city. The last time I was there I didn't see shit.

I also hate cowboys and country music so I want to avoid any honky-tonks or anyplace that encourages line dancing. I know that Dallas is pretty sophisticated and that there are so many transplants that avoid those types of places will not be difficult but...it is in Texas so I thought that needed to be said.

It's also about an hour away from Fort Worth. On the plus side, driving to Dallas will allow you to pass the site of the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, the 2011 Super Bowl and the June 6th George Strait concert... the Cowboys will play there too.

Oh there are plenty of strip clubs that don't rock.

The price is right at $5 a day, but the hassle getting to and from each station (not to mention the bar/resturant/club), Plus, you'd have to keep an eye on your tme as the last train leaves around 11:30p ish.

If you’ve got cash or an expense account, I suggest:
-Pappas Brothers Steakhouse $$$$
-Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse $$$$
-The Blue Goose on Greenville Ave is good Mexican food (additional bonus is that it is in walking distance to several good bars, not clubs mind you, but bars) $$
-Mi Cocina has several locations and I find their fajitas to be great $$-$$$
-Gloria’s is also a good choice for Mexican/Salvadorian $$
-Babe’s Chicken Dinner House is the best place for fried chicken and home cooking and they too have a few locations $$
-Beers mentioned Fogo De Chao; another is Texas De Brazil, both are Brazilian steakhouses that carve your meat tableside. I’ve not eaten at either but I’ve heard nothing but great things for both $$$
- Breadwinners is a good breakfast/brunch place for the weekends. Be advised that the Uptown location is very alternative lifestyle friendly. Not judging, just saying.
-Café Istanbul is great Middle Eastern fare. I love the hummus $$

-Ghost Bar at the W Hotel is one of the latest and greatest for hot’s to hang out. $$$$
-Plush is brand spanking new too. $$$$
-Joyce Lounge, never been but a friend of mine is their liquor rep $$$
-The PM Lounge under the Joule Hotel is where Pacman got into the fight with his bodyguard $$$
-Hully and Mo’s is a new restaurant/hang out owned by Brett Hull and Mike Modano $$$
-Several on McKinney: Lotus, Aura, Madison Ave., Tribeca (kinda uppity) $$-$$$$
-Black Friars, Idle Rich & Uptown Pub also on McKinney but more laid back. $$-$$$
-The Greenville Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade is basically Dallas’ version of Mardi Gras, it will be on Sat. Mar 14th this year. It’s the 30th anniversary so you will see XXX all over the place, if ya know what I mean. (and by that I mean three ‘X’s to signify 30) (oh, and a bunch of hot chicks who may or may not have a problem showing you their brand new bolt ons) $$

-The Lodge is one of the better gentlemen’s clubs in town. Former Pantera drummer and huge Stars fan Vinnie Paul is the part owner of The Clubhouse, best I remember it is an all nude, byob joint. I haven’t been in a while, but The Men’s Club was great at one time.(sorry can’t hyperlink these from work).

Del Friscos...eaten there...good stuff but pricey...not that I was paying.

Nick, is there a place down town on a strip with other restaurants that is basically rude by design and kind of a "rough" place to hang out where they throw your napkins at you and the waitresses are rude all sort of part of the deal fun place for a good meal and some drinks and laughs...or no (I feel like I may be confusing this place with San Diego, can't remember)

Dick's Last Resort was in the West End. It's gone now. Funny story about the one in San Diego, I got tossed out of there on NYE years ago.
