I disagree
1) Seth Greenberg Virginia Tech - playing .500+ ball in the ACC during their first year when projected to finish dead last, got team to bounce back from a 30 point drubbing at Dook to beat them at home.....
2) Al Skinner
3) Utah's coach
4) Iowa State's coach
5) Weber - undefeated - got to get a bump for that hard to come focused every night
6) Charlotte's coach
7) Roy - alot of talent, but he has managed a deep team and got complete buy in on the defensive side of the ball, ......
8) Tubby - a freshman point gaurd and a good record deserves credit
TIE: 9) LSU coach and BAMA coach - BAMA coach gets kicked off list if they loose at Kentucky Saturday
10) Lute Olson - convincing those boys to play any defense deserves alot of credit, looses points for being so defensive about the east coast bias

Honorable mention: Bobby Knight, I personally dont like his style but he has to get credit for turning TT around
Billy Gilipsie ATM - great start, slow finish, but any tourney invite, even NIT deserves credit out of college station

Coach K looses points in my book 1) he has more talent than anyone is willing to give him credit for, 2) I absolutely hate Dook and that will cost him everytime 3) 4 conference losses so far and still has games left with G-Tech and UNC

Yeah,Seth Greenburg, former coach here in Tampa at USF.
Nice to see him doing well.He just had nothing to work with at USF.
Hopefully USF can get better players as they head for the Big East next year.

No love for Thad Matta? Shame.

He takes over an Ohio St. team that played like crap for Jim O'Brien last season, has a team that knows it won't be going to the NCAA Tournament, and still leads them to a very nice record and if they were eligible for post season play, would very likely be playing basketball on the third weekend in March.

Ben Howland at UCLA. When you stop laughing, consider that he has three true freshman in the starting lineup, including the PG. He is basically three wins away from getting in to the NCAA tournament after winning only 11 games last year, his first with the Bruins.

Steve Lavin left Howland a mess to cleanup, and if he can make the NC2A's in his second year, that has to qualify as a great coaching job.

I don't see how Bill Self can't have one of the Top 10 jobs in the nation. Of course, the last week of games is probably the only reason people are forgetting him. He brought in a great class this year and has three Top 15 recruits coming in next season.

I am very content with the class they brought in. It won't be this year but they will contend for a national title in 2006 possibly and WITHOUT a doubt in 2007 they will be in the running.
Basketball all the time that's why i haven't been postin much, but its winding down hopefully we make state but it'll be over soon and i'll be on the board a lot more.

all good replies.....

Crash, I had Self in the top 10, and I had him higher 10 days ago......so I assume you were talking to Rocks top 10.....

Rock, Id like to give some love for the new coaches in the ACC, but I think their success has really shown the ACC to be a weaker conference overall than what alot of people assumed....and you'll say Im biased, but Tubby lost alot of experience and talent last year and is in position for another SEC title, only 3 losses, two of which are those "good losses" that sort of exist......and Bama hosts UK this weekend, they dont got to UK.......lastly I hate Duke and Coach K too, but they only go 6 deep, and thats If Shavlik hasnt gotten sick or injured again, VTech and Maryland losses were bad, but UNC, Wake split, and GTech sweep is equally impressive. no worries, reality hammer will drop hardest March 6 at Chapel Hill

I agree Tubby has done a good job this season, I guess the points I would make would be 1)if your going to award good jobs over great talent then Webber takes the cake followed by Roy then Tubby then Prosser then Self. I will give Tubby extra credit over Prosser because he does have a freshman point gaurd, and I think that is the hardest coaching job
2) K actually goes 8 deep, Ewing, Reddick, Dockery, Sh-Will and Shav(all Mcdonalds) Love, Nelson, and Machlioni(Nelson is also a Mickey D's) that is 6 mcdonalds players, I admit to having a sever biase against K and all things Dook, but I still say people underate the talent he puts on the court every night. True he doesnt have greatness to replace greatness but he can get minutes.
