I won't argue with Williams for player of the year, but Bogut will be right up there with him.

Jordon Farmar at UCLA deserves some mention for Freshman of the Year. I'm not saying he's the top Frosh 'cause I don't know what the stats are of any of the players mentioned, but to be the starting PG as a true freshman for team with such a huge turnaround from last year, that might also make the NC2A's, has to have some mention.
I truly don't know who or even what teams the four you mentioned play for or even what their positions are. Is it a reach to mention Farmar in the same breath?

I think these last few games of the regular season (particularly this Sunday) as well as the Big XII tourney will have a big impact on what honors Simien, Miles, Langford, John Lucas, & Joey Graham receive.

IMO.....
Bogut is gonna get POY Gibson is the best Freshman Ive seen, Curry came on too late but alot of these races might get closer in the last few weeks.... I think Sparks from UK gets the Xfer of the year award, of course I think thats only a Dick Vitale award right?

KP,
Jameson Curry -SG OSU Daniel Gibson - PG Texas Marvin Wiliams - PF UNC Rondo - PG Kentucky I think since all these teams have enjoyed more success, and better TV coverage than UCLA that minimially the two other point gaurds would be ahead of Farmer. Marvin comes off the bench for UNC, but he is probably the most talented freshman in the nation. One guy I forgot was Darius Washington PG for Memphis, he deserves some votes too....... I have only watch bits and pieces of a handful of games for UCLA and I don't know Farmer's stats, but I would imagine it would be tough for him to rise above any of the mentioned fish, especially since your point gaurd argument applies to 3-4 others.... |

After Simien's big game yesterday I would put him closer to POY talk too, but I still think Illinois deserves alot of credit for being undefeated.....

That and I can see Simien's injury hurting his case. Had KU lost three in a row when he was out and won every game after his return, then it might be different. Maybe I'm looking at the POY too much like a MVP award. I would have a hard time not finding a player on Illinois who deserves it.
However Boston College's head coach should be getting more talk for coach of the year depending on how they finish the regular season. I know Illinois hasn't been beaten, but Webber is coaching someone else's recruits and Boston College is a much smaller program in a much stronger conference. But, you can't say Webber doesn't deserve it if he does win coach of the year. |

Roy and Bill are coaching someone else's recruits for the most part too, I wouldn't let that take anything away from the coach of the year conversation, its the best coaching job, not recruiting job.......Skinner does deserve alot of credit for BC, but I think too often there is another story out there with coaches that keeps the coach who did the best job regardless of talent from winning the award, I would like to see that change.
A good point of reference is the ACC this year, Prosser and Roy are not going to get alot of votes because they have the most talented teams, even though they are getting the job done night in and night out and will finish 1 and 2 in the conference in some order, instead because it is perceived that Dook is working with less, or V-Tech is able to to go .500 that their coaches deserve more credit....They do deserve credit yes, but to say they did a better coaching job than the man who took his team to the top of the league, I dont buy into that........ |
