The team makes the man
One of the biggest concers on drafting a player like White is who will be the men infront of the man. You can have a great quarterback prospect who ifyou don't protect to a reasonalbe degree will never develop and will die on the vine.
You want a prime example? Try The New Browns ( in my opinion still like New Coke) Tim Couch number one Draft pick in 1999 Was beaten badgered and bludgeoned throughout his tenure at the browns. Couch was a lamb in the lions den in my opinon and there was no one to shield him from the attack. You saw him become more gunshy each season till the Brownies comletely failed him and cut him loose. (Tim heres to you man I never thought you got a fair chance to become a great) Kelly Holcomb, and Jeff Garcia went through the wringer as well for the franchise. Is Jason White as Durable as a NFL quarterback should be? I think that has a large part to do with the protection he can give hime to allow him time to produce and develop. I honestly believe that if Farve had played for the Browns You would be saying " Man is that Farve guy still around what ever happend to him?"" You see I am still a fan even though I am on the can" EDtv |

Gotta' protect White
An NFL team is going to look at the low interception to touchdown ratio and take a chance on White in the earlier rounds. Someone out there is going to think if we protect him he will pick a defense apart. He cannot run anymore. White does not run a 4.75 40. He ran a 5.0 at the combine. He is too slow to be mobile anymore so I agree that he has to be protected. You watch. A team will swipe him up in the 3rd round and he will get a little playing time next year. In the championship games he was beat down with pressure. If you follow OU football, those are the only games he was really under any decent amount of pressure and he caved. Protect him and he will wear a defense out.

My main arguement is his attitude. Like in his quote in this story, "If I make I make it. If I don't I don't" (Paraphrasing) Not the kind of personality and characteristics you want from someone leading your team. I can see him now...."Don't worry about dropping the game winning TD Mr. WR. We'll get 'em next time. " |

I don't see White being anything special in the NFL.
