Eliminated
Thanks to their 125-99 crushing at the hands of the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention last night. Not only have their dreams of repeating in the West been dashed, but they are now in danger of the unthinkable - being the second best team in the city of Los Angeles.
As of this moment, the Los Angeles Clippers (34-41) sit half a game ahead of the Lakers (33-41), though they will have to fight to end up in that spot, with several tough games remaining in their final 7 of the season.

This Laker season reminds me of what it was like at the end of the Magic,Kareem,Worthy Cooper and Scott era and the only difference is that things weren't as bad as they are at this point. The Lakers will need to make some worthwhile moves during the off season and what better place to start than in the June draft and then in the free agent market.Oh how I wish that Jerry was still here because I'm not sure that Kupchek knows what the hell to do in terms of the right moves to make. They for sure need a stud power forward, backup center and a bonafide point guard in order to turn things around and get back to playoff caliber status.I look for Phil to be back next season and with a decent draft and off season worthwhile pickups, things will be back to normal in Lakerland.

the lakers were doomed from the start of this season. The team was just too broken up. KB is not jordan and cannot take on whole team on his sholders like MJ did in Chicago

You know what was truly funny about the Lakers being eliminated, the same night what did Miami do?

Yo Mike, in case you've forgotten,MJ didn't win anything until he got some decent players to play with and there's no way in hell that you care compare the cast that MJ had with the caliber of players that Kobe has to play with.Out of the Lakers entire squad, there's only two bonafide players that are worth a dam, that being Odom and Butler. Thus, you don't know and can't say that Kobe can't carry a team until he gets the same caliber of players to play that MJ had, then if he doesn't get it done, then and only then will your assement have validity.

One other thing of note to the resident piss brain, since when did they start awarding championship trophys for clinching a playoff spot or winning a division championship.I think that they have something called playoffs to determine who the eventually league champion will be,thus, qualifying for the playoffs doesn't mean squat until you win it all in June.If memory serves me right, last years favorite didn't win but one game"with Shaq" in the championship series and it was proven that a team full of good players are better than two great players. So wait until the champion has been crowned before you start flapping your rubber lips about Miami winning a championship, especially since they still have to go through Detriot.

Rabbito, I can tell that you're over joyed with the Lakers being out of the playoffs and it must be sour grapes for all the years that they've spent kicking the shit out of whatever if any NBA team you support.Don't get to over joyed and OD yourself, because our absence will be short lived and we'll be back kicking your teams ass just like old times because truly great franchises don't stay down for long as witnessed after the Chamberlain,West,Baylor and the Magic,Kareem and Worthy era's.
