Round 1: Denver vs. San Antonio
Today's the day that the rest of the NBA first-round playoff series begin, including #7 Denver playing against #2 San Antonio. It'll be a very tough series for the Nuggets to win, and a lot of things have to go right in order for them to do so.
The biggest thing Denver has to do is try and force the pace of the game beyond a point where the Spurs are comfortable playing. Tim Duncan still has a tender ankle, and if he's forced to run up and down the court on it for much of the game, it could definately play to Denver's advantage. The Nuggets also have to take advantage of their homecourt. They've won 12 straight games at the Pepsi Center, and the Mile High City has been a very friendly place for the Nuggets to play this season. If the Nuggets are going to win this series, they really have to take advantage and try and win all their games at home. My preidction for the series? Nuggets in six. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but they can do it. And for once in my life as a basketball fan, I have faith in my team and their ability to do what it takes to win. |

Nuggets win the series it will be Detriot or Miami vs Phoenix in the Finals. You can bank on that. Nuggets can not beat Phoenix nor can anyone else in the West but the Spurs.
Spurs need to learn how to shoot the ball. They CHOKED out their asses. One of the most pathetic displays of basketball EVER. If your players can't make a shot put them on the bench you dumb coach. Stupid to even have Duncan playing right game is over you dumb coach. It was over long time ago when he couldn't hit a shot nor could anyone. Denver can get their hopes up but like I said they won't be Phoenix. |

Game 1: Denver 93, San Antonio 87 (DEN 1-0)
I was really shocked by how badly the Spurs just choked the game away in the 4th quarter. They didn't make a FG in nearly 11 minutes of the 4th quarter, scoring just 12 points in the period. The Nuggets, on the other hand, turned it on at the right time, scoring 23 in the final frame to really put the game away.
I agree with you, the Nuggets really don't have a chance against the Suns unless they REALLY step their game up. Denver was clicking on all cylinders throughout much of Game 1, and it propelled them to the win. If they can take Game 2 of this series and lead 2-0 heading back to denver, I think this series will already be over. But that's a pretty big "if." In any case, the Denver Nuggets lead their first-round, best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs 1-0 after their 93-87 victory in Game 1. Surprising fact: the Spurs are 38-4 at home this season. Two of those losses are to Denver. |

That's also because of the Nuggets Defense look at their season statistics in the 4th Quarter they shut teams down when they need to they got physical and shut San Antonio DOWN! PLAIN & SIMPLE!
Phoenix can run but if the Nuggets play them they will hang it won't be as easy as everyone wants to think. |

Well, an 0-for-17 stretch of nearly 11 minutes in the 4th quarter also helped, but I agree. Denver's D has really stepped up in the 4th quarter and it's been a really big reason they'e won so many games over the last two months.
Their problem quarter is the 3rd. The Nuggets have a habit of relaxing a bit after halftime and that's led to a number of closer-than-needed games in the 4th quarter. |

OUCH.
Denver looked just awful in Game 2. then again, maybe the Spurs showed them who the true class of this series is. We can't really be sure until Game 3, which is in Denver on Saturday night. All I know for certain is that Denver won't play as poorly as they did in Game 2, and San Antonio won't have quite such an easy time shutting the Nuggets down. The series is tied 1-1 heading to the Mile High City, where the Nuggets can hopefully take the next two games to get a stranglehold on this series. |

I think Nuggets need to learn how to stop Ginobili and how to play basketball
My prediction: Manu Ginobili wins in five!!! Envious Melo Anthony sucks! Karl sucks!!! All-Stars Ginobili & Duncan Rules! Go Spurs! Go! PD: keep crying buddy, just like KarlQuote:

He was only right thought because he posted right after the Spurs went up 3-1 in the series heading back home. Not too much of a difficult pick if you ask me.
In any case, it was painful to watch denver struggle the way they did in those last few games. It was fantastic to see them win Game 1, and it was hard to watch them lose games 2-5. In the end, I was surprised but also not surprised that they lost. Next year, though. I am really looking forward to seeing the Nuggets play in 05-06. |
