It's about time.
Mavs played their best game aganst the suns in Game 4, and I guess the coach did call out Damp and Dirk as both had solid games. Now if they can get the same production out of everyone (especially Howard who does not play well on the road) and Jason Terry can show up... then, Mavs in 6.

I gotta think this is going seven, regardless. I don't see the Mavs winning three in a row against the Suns. If it does go seven...the edge should go to the Mavs, even with the game in Phoenix, simply because the Suns have no bench and the starters will more than likely be worn down...particularly Nash. Amare, Quinten and Jackson might be okay, but Nash, as fast as he plays, is another story.

I disagree. I think that the Mavs can pull off three in a row. That being said, if it does go to seven, I think you are right. Mavs should be able to utilize their deeper bench and come out on top. Either way, it should be a great set of 2 to 3 games!

You forget, my friend, that they have already done it against houston. It can be done and the Mavs know it. I am certainly not claiming that it will be easy, but it is possible. Now if you don't mind, I'll steal it back...

I think Dallas is the more well rounded team. I generally tend to think that that would make for a better team, but maybe not. Nevertheless, my 6 game prediction notwithstanding, Dallas certainly has their work cut out for them in the next 4 days. The suns have absolutely played the series of their young lives, I'll give them that. This series is like a heavyweight boxing match with one team taking the other's best punch and neither one going down. Really great. I truly hope that this series goes to 7, not just because it be good for the Mavericks, but because it should be very exciting basketball for the fans. Here's to a great next two games... and a Mavs win in game 7.

I really didn't think the Mavs could win in six. I do think they can win in seven. I'm sure AZCards or SunsFan or even BTown will disagree, but the Mavs LOST this last game more than the Suns WON the game.
The Suns are a great team. They have three outstanding players (Marion, Amare and Nash) and some excellent role players (JJ and JJ). They don't have a whole lot after that, as evidenced by the subs playing time. Anyway, here's how I think the Mavs lost versus the Suns winning: how many layups and put-backs did the Mavs miss? How many times in a row did Nash curl to the foul line and hit a wide open 12-15 footer? Why did all of sudden in the fourth quarter did the Mavs stop driving the lane and start settling for long, contested jump shots? What happened to Michael Finley? None of that had anything to do with what the Suns were doing but everything to do with want-to. I agree with Doug Collins when he said, with about four minutes left in the game, that the Suns just "wanted" it more. Josh Howard lost his cool. Finley couldn't hit. Terry, Dirk, Stack all quit driving. Stoudamire had four fouls! How can you not realize that and attack? I'm quite sure Avery Johnson pointed that out. Stack, Dirk and Terry all resorted to one move, the reverse spin, and the Suns knew it was coming and didn't bite. That was it. Once the Suns defense quit biting on the reverse spin, the Mavs players didn't know what to do and passed the ball away. Also, waaaayyyyy too many boneheaded TO's by the whole team. Go ahead...tell me how much better the Suns are. Talent-wise, I don't buy it. Attitude-wise, the Suns are, right now, on a higher level. The Mavs have two games to find a winner's attitude. |

Interesting take KP. I was thinking just the opposite from watching the first three quarters. I saw the Suns missing more shots and letting the Mavs just hang around. We finally saw in the fourth typical Suns shooting and there was no answer.
The Suns have appeared down for this series. Is it the Mavs defense? Could be but they aren't playing like they have in the past. Nick is right though, this thing gets closed out in game six. |

You make it sound like it was a given that the suns would win? From the games I watched, looked like a pretty tight series, but I could be wrong.
Now that the suns swept the Mavericks, I guess the spurs will just forfeit out of fear? |
